Do you have any examples of when a country you don't particularly get excited by sends a good song that ends up getting into your votes? I personally love it when it happens because variety is great! Here's some examples from me from 2014:
Isconia: Sultan & Ned Shepard - All These Roads (feat Zella Day & Sam Martin) not usually a fan but they switched it up a bit (still can't believe Grebo of all people sent this!) and it got a few points from me. Tartford: Humate - Love Stimulation this got 7 points from me, which is a big change from usually being near the bottom of my opinion table. Ingermanlandia - Flight Facilities - Stand Still (feat. Micky Green) Also got 7 points from me, what a shame this flopped because it's brilliant and unlike most of their entries. Syndare - Rico - This Song Don't usually get behind them but this was a nice housey tune. Also love the inspirational black female vocal in it. Got 6 points. Oslol We Are Legends, Caroline Ailin Begging For Amnesia Oslol are usually too pop hoe for me but this was a great effort which got 8 points from us and so far is the only time we've voted for them. |

'Tigerhead' from Oslol obvz.
Three countries that have traditionally usually finished near the bottom of my ranking have been notably better this year (Daehun, Allecian and Unovia). Pretty much the only Daehun entry I didn't hate prior to Indila was Ailee's 'I Will Show You' (I could probably tolerate others but the majority ended up somewhere around last) and I've also voted for both CL and Alison Wonderland since. Allecian have pulled 2 good entries out of the bag (Punk Party and Felix Cartal) after usually never being better than average and after never having any time for Unovia (aside from 'Bound' <3) before this year, 'Feral Love' came 11th in the best contest ever and 'Used To Be My Friend' picked up a couple of points. Fefe Dobson was also fairly good. Incidentally I notice Unovia have still never given me a single point. Worst case of Brécism around right there. |

OSLOL 'Begging For Amnesia' was definitely one for me as well. As well as Unovia 'Feral Love'.
The big ones recently are Bellamia ('Something About You' / 'Give It All'), and Allecian ('Armenian Girl'). |
