The 2014 European Athletics Championships get underway tomorrow morning (August 12th) and will continue for the next few days! I'm a big fan of watching athletics and it'll be nice to see some more following the Commonwealth Games! Anyone else going to be tuning in?

Jo Pavey just won her first gold medal in the 10,000m!! To think she's 40 and had a baby not long ago, amazing!

An incredible run from Pavey and I am so pleased she finally has a gold medal! I got a bit emotional for her when she stormed ahead on that home straight as I've grown up with her for the last 10 or 15 years and she always has got close to a gold without ever achieving it so I'm so pleased that she's finally got it!

Brilliant night for Team GB last night. Golds for Farah, Porter and Dasaolu and a first senior medal for Harry Aikines-Aryeetey as well as a silver for Andy Vernon behind Mo and Ashleigh Nelson winning our first women's 100m medal for 40 years.

Apart from a few very obvious gaps (when Osagie isn't fit our male middle distance running is dreadful), we seem to be competitive in almost everything on the track.

What the 3000m steeplechase champion Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad did near the end of the race:

If I remember rightly didn't he push a 14 year-old mascot in Helsinki when he won?

Ahem, I meant 200m. Given time he'll hopefully do both in championships.

Gemili against Lemaitre will be fascinating.

Really hope Martyn Rooney can finally get a gold in the 400m tonight. Been back in form this year after a bad patch but he's been there or thereabouts for years.

Gold for Rooney! 44.71 is the best European time of the year and his best since he ran 44.60 in Beijing. Matt Hudson-Smith came second in 44.75 so a big PB for him as well. Conrad Williams (who is apparently 32, who knew) came fifth, just short of his season best but wasn't far off making it a clean sweep.

I'm tempted to put a bet on us winning all four relays.

Foolish run by Lynsey Sharp in the 800m. She was the clear favourite but she tried to win it from the front and got overtaken in the final 100. Big PB but what's the point when you could have run a second slower and won?

Brilliant final day. Three relay golds with only an understrength Womens 4x400 team not winning, including a British record for the Womens 4x100. Second gold for Mo Farah in the 5000m and Greg Rutherford won the long jump so he'll hold the full set if he wins at the World Championships next year!

Fantastic European championships from Team GB. 12 gold medals. The best we've ever done at a European Championships.

After being disqualified from the men's 3000m steeplechase for removing his shirt before the line. Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad won gold in the 1500m.
