I am heading over to London next weekend to see Lady Bush in concert. I'm staying for three nights - Fr/Sat/Sun but still haven't booked accommodation. Now I could trawl the net (and I have been doing a bit of that) but first hand experience from people here would be good to get.

So, I don't mind staying in a hostel but I do want to stay in one which is moderately clean and not horrendously noisy. My budget is probably about £50 per night.

Any suggestions?

I did ask but she was charging £19,673 per room, per night.

I have no experience with hostels but what do you think of Travelodge? unsure.gif I've stayed at the one in Hounslow for the past two weekends (appears to be the cheapest in London and has availability at short notice), it's a two minute walk from the nearest tube station (if that), 20-25 minutes on the tube to Hammersmith and comes out exactly on budget (£150 for those three nights). They're perfectly fine hotels for a short break on a budget imo.

Agreed, you can't go wrong with travelodge and those prices are decent for such short notice.

Great - I'll have a look at the Travel Lodge too.

I've used university halls of residence and Youth Hostels when I've needed somewhere reasonably cheap.

Premier Inns are good if there's one near. Travelodge is a shout though if you don't care about conditions and that.

Travelodge are brill! Massive and comfy bed with an en-suite. Don't need more and they don't pretend to give you more either. Proper good budget accomo. Much better than Ibis Budget who are shit.

Premier Inn is just a Travelodge room with one or two of the frills back at thrice the price.

Travelodge are a perfect example of getting what you pay for. You don't pay for luxury and you don't get it. If all you want is a place to sleep, they're fine.
