THE MYSTERY DROP

Welcome to the Mystery Drop Game! Upon the poll results, this game has had the most votes of all games than any other in the poll for games I should host (4). I haven't tested out or played it before so bare with me! biggrin.gif

So here's what you have to do, written as simply as possible tongue.gif
  • Pick any single in the current UK Singles Top 100.
  • You must hope for it to fall (or sometimes climb) an unknown number of places which will be revealed the following Sunday.
  • The change in positions of all ex-number ones is the change you aim for. See the example below for explaination.

In case anyone doesn't understand the last point, I will use week ending 13/09/2014 as an example:

(1) Lilly Wood & Robin Schulz - Prayer In C (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 2)
7. (3) David Guetta feat. Sam Martin - Lovers On The Sun (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 3)
9. (6) Magic! - Rude (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 9)
10. (5) Nico & Vinz - Am I Wrong? (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 10)
12. (12) Ella Henderson - Ghost (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 13)
16. (15) Sam Smith - Stay With Me (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 16)
20. (23) Mr. Probz - Waves (Robin Schulz Remix) (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 20)
22. (25) Cheryl feat. Tinie Tempah - Crazy Stupid Love (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 7)
23. (16) Ariana Grande feat. Iggy Azelea - Problem (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 10)
26. (24) Ed Sheeran - Sing (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 14)
30. (28) Oliver Heldens & Becky Hill - Gecko (Overdrive) (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 11)
31. (34) Clean Bandit feat. Jess Glynne - Rather Be (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 33)
32. (30) Pharrell Williams - Happy (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 41)
35. (29) will.i.am. feat. Cody Wise - It's My Birthday (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 9)
42. (35) Calvin Harris - Summer (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 19)
43. (39) Kiesza - Hideaway (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 21)
50. (42) Rixton - Me And My Broken Heart (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 8)
57. (60) Sam Smith - Money On My Mind (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 29)
58. (48) Rita Ora - I Will Never Let You Down (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 17)
61. (54) Sigma - Nobody To Love (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 22)
77. (83) Avicii - Wake Me Up (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 60)
78. (92) 5 Seconds Of Summer - She Looks So Perfect (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 24)
81. (79) Duke Dumont feat. Jax Jones - I Got U (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 25)
82. (84) Pitbull feat. Kesha - Timber (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 36)
85. (81) Route 94 feat. Jess Glynne - My Love (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 27)
93. (116) Lorde - Royals (Pk: 1) (Weeks: 30)

The above list shows all number ones which were number ones previously. Had Prayer In C been at #1 for the first time on that week, it would not have been included in the list. Now the changes in positions from the previous week to 13/09/2014 are counted, so Lovers On The Sun fell from 3 to 7 (-4) and Waves climbed up from 23 to 20 (+3) as an example. Counting all of the changes in position results in a total of -21. So the single each player predicts must have fallen down 21.

Scoring
Players correctly predicting a single to fall/climb a set amount of places gains 50 points. Each position out is 1 point off of 50, for example, being 5 positions out is 45 points.

It sounds complicated, but I'm sure after playing the first game you'll get the hang of it wink.gif

The first game will be open after 7:00PM tonight, which players will be required to choose any single in the top 100 which may fall a certain number of places.

Most of these don't seem likely to drop that much in just a week unsure.gif I'll be brave and pick Rita Ora, I Will Never Let You Down.

But the thing is you don't know how big or small the drop will be until next week. By the way, in case you didn't understand, you can pick any top 100 single; the number ones are just how to work out the drop ;£

No problem biggrin.gif

The theory behind the calculating of the aimed drop is the complex bit and not easy to explain, but after a couple of games you'll get the hang tongue.gif

OK, lets add the changes in position for all ex-number ones:

-24

Now lets compare the drops (or climbs) for the singles you predicted earlier:

Me And My Broken Heart by Rixton. - hotchoc26
56. (63) - UP 7

Rita Ora, I Will Never Let You Down - Riser
75. (64) - DOWN 11

Kid Ink - Body Language - Rush
82. (46) - DOWN 36

Will.I.Am Ft. Cody Wise - It's my birthday - soundseekerz
53. (44) - DOWN 11

Klingande - Jubel - Dobbo
62. (57) - DOWN 5

Rush was 12 out with DOWN 36 to the target of DOWN 24.
