Jessie J
Personal
Sweet Talker | 2014

* chart ineligible until the album release, 13th October.

Release date: 30-09-2014
Format: instant grat / digital single
Label: Republic Records

Video here:

Biography
Jessica Ellen Cornish (born 27 March 1988), better known by her stage name Jessie J, is an English singer and songwriter. Born and brought up in London, England, she studied at the BRIT School before signing with Gut Records and striking a songwriting deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing where she wrote for artists including Chris Brown and Miley Cyrus.

After signing with Universal Republic, Jessie J came to prominence following the release of her debut single, "Do It Like a Dude", which peaked at number two on the UK Singles Charts. In 2011, after topping the charts in nineteen countries including the United Kingdom, France, Ireland and New Zealand, with the song "Price Tag", she released her début album, Who You Are, which charted at number two in the UK. Other releases from the album included "Nobody's Perfect", "Who's Laughing Now" and "Who You Are", which all charted within the top 20 in the UK. Release of the fifth single, "Domino", resulted in further international chart success, peaking at number six on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and becoming her second UK number one. The seventh single released from Who You Are, "LaserLight", became the album's sixth top ten single, making her the first British female artist to have six top ten singles from a studio album. Her second album, Alive, was released on 23 September 2013 and reached the top 5 in the UK Albums Chart. Aside from her musical career, Jessie J served as coach and mentor on television show, The Voice UK.

Citing various influences, Jessie J is recognised for an unconventional musical and performance style that mixes soul vocals with contemporary R&B, pop, electropop, and hip-hop beats. Jessie J has garnered various awards and nominations for contributions to the music industry, including the 2011 Critics' Choice BRIT Award and the BBC's Sound of 2011. As of April 2012, Jessie J had sold over 11 million singles and 2.5 million albums, worldwide.

heyheyhey

The Magician to slay the top 10 hopefully, Sunlight is brilliant. Don't care the other new entries.

2013

2- CAN WE DANCE- The Vamps (66,730) this wasn't too bad actually. better than the overrated Counting Stars anyway
3- TALK DIRTY- Jason Derulo Ft 2Chainz (53,270)
5- COUNT ON ME- Chase & Status Ft Moko (42,365) such a shame Moko can't hit the charts by herself, she's brilliant!
6- YOU MAKE ME- Avicii (33,047)
8- HOLD ON WE’RE GOING HOME- Drake Ft Majid Jordan (30,656)

2009

1- BREAK YOUR HEART- Taio Cruz (42,746)

3- SEXY CHICK- David Guetta Ft Akon (35,702)
5- I GOTTA FEELING- Black Eyed Peas (25,799)
7- SWEET DISPOSITION- Temper Trap (21,461) great indie song, rightfully a modern semi-classic. the lead singer from Temper Trap is on a great Steve Angello song which should've been a hit by the way
9- HOTEL ROOM SERVICE- Pitbull (17,404)

2004

1- CALL ON ME- Eric Prydz (36,423) heart.gif
3- FLASHDANCE- Deep Dish (15,600) heart.gif two amazing dance songs in the top 3 here!

9- AMERICAN IDIOT- Green Day (10,600)*

1999

1- BLUE (DA BA DEE)- Eiffel 65 (141,900)

Can't wait to see top 40 veteran Jessie Ware add yet ANOTHER top 40 hit to her collection ohmy.gif.

QUOTE(JosephStyles @ Oct 5 2014, 03:02 PM) *
1 year since Can We Dance wub.gif So annoyingly close to #1!

One of the most interesting/exciting #1 battles of recent times; a slow-burner that had been steadily gaining in popularity for weeks versus its polar opposite - a front-loaded, fanbase-fuelled release (although of course 'Can We Dance' ended up having impressive longevity from week three onwards!)
