Which singers have you thought have surprised your expectations and done a lot better then you thought they were going to?

For me it is:

Ed Sheeran- I knew he was going to do well but I never thought the album would sell that much and that he would get a post album number 1

Sam Smith- I remember telling my friend in February that Sam Smith should have released his album then as no one will remember and care about him by May kink.gif He's another artist having many post album hit singles and Stay With Me has still been massive

Ella Henderson- A contestant who finished 6th on X-Factor 2 years ago managing to stay relevant and scoring a #1 hit with one of the biggest songs of the year. I would have never expected that

Iggy Azalea

Never would have expected her to reach the level of success she is at now.

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini having her most prolific year.

Also George Ezra, Iggy Azalea and Pitbull.

Oh wait this is 2014 what a silly wombat I am...

Maybe The Script. I know their fanbase is huge but I wasn't expecting them to remain successful this year for some reason.

I wouldn't even say Ed Sheeran has overperformed I think it was expected that he would slay, maybe not quite to this extent but he's got radio backing and I'm not surprised he's been this successful.

John Legend, One Republic, The Vamps, Fuse have all over performed for me as has Ariana Grande despite her album sales not being too good.

Such an injustice. sad.gif Although 'Into The Blue' strangely sounded like such a big hit on the Kiss Me Once tour. Thankfully Nasty will never see the light of day in an arena. kink.gif

Pixie to perform it on the strictly tour.

Royal Blood surely? their debut sales hugely surpassed my expectation. George Ezra as well actually (Budapest's success i kinda saw coming because of its performance overseas, but Blame It On Me and his album have done extremely well). Clean Bandit to an extent also, this time last year i didn't think they'd ever come anywhere close to a #1 single (let alone one THAT huge and ubiquitous), and a few top 5s (assuming 'Real Love' reaches the top 5 ofc). what a few radio-friendly singles can do~

Fuse ODG is the biggest one, after 'Azonto' flopped he seemed like he'd just be a one hit wonder but instead he went on to have 2 songs peak higher than 'Antenna' and a fourth top 10 hit on top of that. Plus an appearance on Band Aid 30.

David Guetta.

I thought after "Ain't A Party" was dead on arrival, he would have faded, and I was surprised "Shot Me Down" did so well. At least he had "Lovers On The Sun" so it makes it seem more legit, but still an overperformance overall.
