HITS DAILY DOUBLE: Your New Releases

Hits Daily Double (November 18th, 2014):

"According to very, very early reads, FOUR, the new set from SYCO/Columbia's One Direction, looks set to bow in the vicinity of 400-450k next week.

Meanwhile, Republic's Nickelback is looking to do 55-60k, likely good for a Top 5 premiere, while the label's Lorde-curated Hunger Games: Mockingjay Pt. 1. is set for a 20-25k debut."

BILLBOARD: One Direction's 'Four' Heading for 400,000-Plus Debut

Billboard (November 18th, 2014):

"Pop group One Direction is on course for its fourth No. 1 album in less than three years, as Four is set to debut atop the Billboard 200 next week. Industry sources suggest the album could sell over 420,000 copies in the week ending Nov. 23. If Four sells as expected, it would secure the second-largest sales week of 2014, behind only Taylor Swift's 1.287 million bow with 1989."

With 400k copies sold it will be second biggest debut this year. It's hard to compare this year with last year, cause lat year their debut week was in week with black Friday. So i think 400k should be considered as a success.

Let's all just acknowledge the fact this is a UK X Factor-produced act's FOURTH US #1 album! Love them or hate them, that is a massively impressive feat.

What did their previous albums open with? I can't remember and 400k still sounds pretty impressive.

'Up All Night': 176,000
'Take Me Home': 540,000
'Midnight Memories': 546,000

(Taken from Wikipedia unsure.gif. They do look right to me though!)

I feel like this album will be lucky to go Platinum but 420k for their 4th album's first week is indeed amazing.

Remember that Platinum album is based on album shipments, not album sales. So they have sell only around 900 k. 400k this week 200k in christmas week, and they will need only 300k, so i think they can achieve this this year.

Nickelback Aiming for Sixth Top 10 Album With 'Address'

Billboard (November 21st, 2014):

"Rock band Nickelback is primed to collect is sixth top 10 album on the Billboard 200 chart next week. Industry forecasters suggest the group's new release, No Fixed Address, could sell around 65,000 copies in the week ending Nov. 23.

Nickelback's new album might be one of only two new arrivals in next week's top 10. The other is One Direction's likely No. 1 album: Four. The vocal group's fourth album, released on SYCO/Columbia Records, should bow with over 400,000 copies sold.

Taylor Swift's current leader, 1989, will probably slip to No. 2 on the new chart, but could still sell over 200,000."
