OK so everyone must have lyrics that annoy them for whatever reason. There's two that currently rattle my cage:

Olly Murs: "You got me wrapped up, around your finger". The phrase is "wrapped around your finger", no one says "wrapped up around your finger", it just doesn't make sense! They've just added the word "up" to make it fit with the rhythm and that really annoys me.

Then there's the middle eight in The Vamps' 'Oh Cecilia': "Although we're many miles apart, but I still feel her", which is obviously grammatically incorrect and it annoys the hell out of me every time I hear it. Either the 'although' or the 'but' needs to be removed. A better line would have been "We may be many miles apart, but I still feel her". (Hopefully they'll consult me before writing their next album unsure.gif)

Do these lyrics grind anyone else's gears, or am I alone?

What other lyrics annoy you, and why?

I can't think of any right now off the top of my head but I totally agree about Oh Cecilia - adore the song but that part really annoys me. I kinda change the lyric to "I know we're many miles apart but I still feel her" when I sing along kink.gif

Well, it's more a case of being offensive than annoying (and not wishing to bring this thread crashing down before it begins), but: ''don't be a drag, just be a queen''. As if somehow those are the only 2 options and you must be one or the other and anything different is unacceptable.

Obv that one has been DONE TO DEATH on here, and everywhere, but yeah.,

clap your hands if you feel like a room without a roof

what dumb lyrics.

all rooms have roofs- so how can you.... never mind.

and anything else really that's overly optomistic.

Cheryl's call my name chorus made no sense to me.

Vanessa williams's save the best til last had the line "sometimes the sun goes round the moon" which is astronomically incorrect & bugged the life out of me!

lyrics about girls/women who "run things"..

Also, Muse using the same lyrical structure for 5 or 6 songs is annoying.

My point exactly! dry.gif
How is a room 'happy' in any way without a roof? If it rains or whatever the room gets soaked and everything in it gets ruined! Also you would be cold without a roof and things would blow away!

"You got me confused by the way I've changed."

unsure.gif

Pretty much everything in Drunk On Love makes no sense at all. Perhaps she was drunk while writing the lyrics? laugh.gif And a bit off topic but JAY Z in the video appeared a bit awkward rapping next to Beyonce for some reason thinking.gif

Most lyrics these days, especially rap, dance and pop seem to make no sense whatsoever. Honestly the lack of thought into lyrics recently are appalling ohmy.gif

The lyrics to 'Drunk In Love' make perfect sense, it's all a euphemism and it's very very dirty.

"Hit the Road Jack" also got a Grammy Award for Best Rhythm and Blues Recording. The song was also number one on the R&B Sides chart for five weeks, thereby becoming Ray Charles' sixth number one on that chart. The song is ranked #387 on the Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

I suppose it means he's breaking up with her and telling her to 'hit the road'. Whether it's literal or metaphorical isn't really important wink.gif

The grammar sounds ok to me often being a gnazi but I'm no expert laugh.gif
