Hi
I'm new to Buzzjack and pleased to be on board.
I've been lucky enough to have been given a radio show on a new, not-for-profit radio station called Surrey Hills Community radio (internet only).
Half a dozen shows in, I'm looking for new bands/ideas for the show.
I play a wide range of indie/punk/new wave & post punk, psychedelia recent plays include Mogwai, Swell Maps, Magazine, Can, Hawkwind, Spizz Energi, Clash, Damned, Buzzcocks, Gnod, Hookworms, Sweet Baboo, Ty seagal, Kiran Leonard, Thee Oh Sees, etc etc. And The Fall
Any suggestions/recommendations gratefully received!
Thanks in anticipation,
Bingo Gravy

Hi, welcome to BuzzJack. I think Grebo will probably be your man for this, are you looking for current/new stuff or mainly older catalogue releases?

On newer stuff: do you like Grinderman (though they are more bluesy than punk), The Gaslight Anthem or Parquet Courts ?

How about Temples? They're pretty retro sounding although I'm not sure whether they're 'rock' enough for your tastes?

Here's a sample track...

Just in case my post wasn't clear on the matter, The Death Of Pop are a new (as yet unsigned) band which seems to fit in with what you want.

I approve of this sentiment.

They have a Soundcloud page which has some contact details. I saw something about them on my local paper's Facebook page - as they are originally from Bournemouth - and was very impressed with what I heard. I managed to see them live in August and, again, was very impressed. I'd really love to see them succeed and getting them picked up by radio (however small the station may be) is part of that.

If you've played Sweet Baboo then try anything from Lost Map Recordings (the bast*rd son of Fence Records!) especially The Pictish Trail and Randolph's Leap (and, of course, King Creosote and James Yorkston who are "too big" for that and are on Domino!).

In terms of more alternative rock try the likes of Wildhoney, Wolf Alice, Joanna Gruesome and Day Ravies for some fuzzy fun!

I was going to say Wolf Alice, but I wasn't sure if he was keen on female led vocals. If you are then also: Blood Red Shoes and The Joy Formidable are worth checking out!

Hey there, it sounds like you might listen to Marc Reilly on 6music, if not then you should do!

I would say Archie Bronson Outfit might fit the bill.

GOAT might be another good fit.

The new album by Wand is a cracker as well.

Just listened to your show. Pretty good.

What was the name of that updated Curved Air type band?
