Breakthrough/Debut song of the year
The first award of the evening is for the best breakthrough song of the year. And the winner is Oliver Heldens with UK #1 Gecko (Overdrive) which was the biggest breakthrough dance single since Martin Garrix's Animals and deservedly wins the award now. Gecko is up for more awards tonight so we could see Oliver with multiple wins. Oliver Heldens steps onto the stage, showing off his #1 single The full results: 17 Oliver Heldens x Becky Hill - Gecko (Overdrive) 16 Kiesza - Hideaway 12 Route 94 feat. Jess Glynne - My Love 9 Klingande - Jubel Breakthrough act of the year Now we present the award for breakthrough act of the year. Last year it was a landslide win for Disclosure, but this year it's a win for Clean Bandit! With songs like Rather Be, Real Love and Extraordinary they definitely deserve this Clean Bandit's acceptance speech includes thank yous to Theo and Josh, who gave them +3s The full results: 14 Clean Bandit 12 Gorgon City 10 Oliver Heldens 9 Kiesza 9 Jess Glynne |

Yes Gecko! Fully deserved that.
The act was a harder choice but CB have done the most out of them so it makes sense. |

Next up we present the awards for vocal performances, because sometimes it's not just the production that makes a dance song what it is.
Male vocal performance of the year Sir John Newman doesn't only have a BuzzKnighthood and four #1s, but now he takes home a dance forum award for his vocal on Calvin Harris' 'Blame'. Mr. Probz really should've won but Newman is undeniably a great vocalist! John Newman follows in the footsteps of Miley Cyrus by smoking onstage. What a rebel The full results: 14 John Newman on 'Blame' 12 Olly Alexander of Years & Years on 'Sunlight' 8 Sam Martin on 'Dangerous' 7 Mr. Probz on 'Waves' (Robin Schulz Remix) 7 MNEK on 'Ready For Your Love' 6 Calvin Harris on 'Summer' Female vocal performance of the year Becky Hill gets the second 'Gecko' award of the evening for her amazing vocal on it. Hopefully she can actually get a hit by herself soon, Losing was great and should've smashed Becky Hill reminds us all where she came from. When will the Voice UK winners evah? The full results: 16 Becky Hill on 'Gecko (Overdrive)' 14 Jess Glynne on 'Rather Be' 12 Ellie Goulding on 'Outside' 9 Kiesza on 'Hideaway' 3 Moko on 'Your Love' |

Now we've awarded vocal performance, it's time to award non-vocal performance. So here we have, for the first time, the instrumental of the year award! Followed by the long song of the year award as we all know some dance songs are very long.
Instrumental of the year Oliver Heldens takes home his 2nd award of the night for the instrumental mix of 'Gecko', making this song the definitive one of the awards ceremony. Whether it will win Song of the year though is to be discovered. Oliver Heldens goes for the serious approach with his 2nd acceptance speech The full results: 17 Oliver Heldens - Gecko 14 Watermat - Bullit 12 Ten Walls - Walking With Elephants 8 Oliver Heldens - Koala Long/Extended song of the year So Ten Walls couldn't get best instrumental, but instead wins long song of the year, for his five and a half minute effort Walking With Elephants! An amazing song and definitely worthy of winning Ten Walls explains how he's actually one person despite the plural name The full results: 21 Ten Walls - Walking With Elephants 17 Oliver $ / Jimi Jules 'Pushing On (Original Mix)' |

Next we award the best remix of the year and then look to the future with what song you'd like to smash next year.
Remix of the year Robin Schulz did 2 brilliant and massive remixes this year, and he takes this award with 'Prayer In C' just beating MK's 'My Head Is A Jungle' remix by getting more +3s Robin Schulz looking v~ swagtastic The full results: 17 Lilly Wood and the Prick 'Prayer In C' (Robin Schulz Remix) 17 Wankelmut & Emma Louise 'My Head Is A Jungle' (MK Remix) 11 Mr. Probz - Waves (Robin Schulz Remix) 7 MK feat. Alana 'Always' (Route 94 Remix) Song you want to smash the chart in 2015 Another close battle, but Omi and Felix Jaehn take it for 'Cheerleader' which will be released this March and is looking likely to be a big smash hit, providing that radio 1 playlist it. It was #1 in Sweden for 9 weeks and is currently spending its 5th week at #1 in Denmark. Omi hopes for his song to go to #1 in the UK The full results: 18 Omi - Cheerleader (Felix Jaehn Remix) 17 Hannah Wants & Chris Lorenzo - Rhymes |

from worst to best up next with the song of the year categories!
Worst song of the year Tegan & Sara attempted EDM for The Lego Movie and it was awful, not helped by The Lonely Island's rapping of course but the chorus is so annoying! Tegan & Sara not looking too pleased with their "win" The full results: 15 Tegan & Sara ~ Everything Is Awesome!!! (feat. The Lonely Island) 9 David Guetta feat. Kaz James - Blast Off 8 Mr. Probz - Waves (Robin Schulz Remix) 7 New World Sound & Thomas Newson feat. Lethal Bizzle - Flutes Song of the year Robin Schulz's 2nd award of the evening, except this time for 'Waves' which is voted the best dance song of the year. I definitely agree Mr. Probz takes the award for himself and Robin, particularly thanking Danaelanda for 'Waves' selling nearly 2 million there The full results: 14 Mr. Probz - Waves (Robin Schulz Remix) 12 Oliver Heldens x Becky Hill - Gecko (Overdrive) 11 Clean Bandit feat. Jess Glynne - Rather Be 10 Kiesza - Hideaway 7 Kiesza - Giant In My Heart |

Album of the year
Next we have the award for the best album, and it's not even close as Calvin Harris takes it with 'Motion'! My personal favourite of the year so well done! Calvin Harris listening to his own album as he takes the award The full results: 22 Calvin Harris - Motion 10 David Guetta - Listen 6 Gorgon City - Sirens 6 Clean Bandit - New Eyes 5 Kiesza - Sound Of A Woman 4 Porter Robinson - Worlds Music Video of the year With amazing choreography it was never going to be anything but Hideaway taking this award! Kiesza recreates a scene from her award winning music video The full results: 22 Kiesza - Hideaway 15 Oliver Heldens x Becky Hill - Gecko (Overdrive) 8 Duke Dumont - Won't Look Back 8 Faul & Wad Ad vs. Pnau - Changes We will be back after the BJSC results for the following... • Record Label of the year • The Beatport Award for Sub-Genre of the year • The Krewella 1.0 Memorial Award for Group of the year • The Tim Bergling Award for Producer of the year |

Other than Music Video (which is spot on) boo at those other results!
Everything Is Awesome is just great fun and shouldn't be taken seriously (it's from the Lego movie!!!) Waves should be winning worst song not best song & although Motion is a very strong album I preferred a lot of the rest on that list. |

Let's get back to it!
Record Label of the year The winner here of course is Spinnin' Records who keep releasing really good songs, it's easy to see why they're at the top of the game. The full results: 19 Spinnin' Records 12 Ministry of Sound 6 Ultra 5 3Beat The Beatport Award for Sub-Genre of the year If any one genre has dominated 2014 it certainly is deep house, with many of the year's big smashes being deep house or with deep house influences. It's a genre that's really delivered for me anyway so glad to see it win here. The full results: 22 Deep house 10 Tropical house 7 Future house 5 Electro house 1 Progressive house |

The final 2 awards of the evening are the big ones, one where the best groups and producers of the year battle it out. Firstly we have...
The Krewella 1.0 Memorial Award for Group of the year Blonde vs. Clean Bandit vs. Gorgon City vs. Sigma Clean Bandit pictured outside the Dance Forum Awards 2014 as they are told they've won another award (let's forget that it says BRITS) And of course Clean Bandit are the winners, picking up their 2nd award of the evening after winning Breakthrough act. They are a great group so it only makes sense that they get this award. The full results: 22 Clean Bandit 15 Gorgon City 12 Sigma 3 Blonde The Tim Bergling Award for Producer of the year Now the final award, so good that it's named after the best producer of the year, although for whatever reason Avicii hasn't been shortlisted for this. Calvin Harris vs. David Guetta vs. Martin Garrix vs. Oliver Heldens vs. Robin Schulz Calvin Harris shows off his 2 awards from this evening Calvin Harris has had a massive year including 2 UK #1s and even if a lot of his new songs are in the style of 18 Months it clearly still works for us as we still love him. His music is amazing to be fair. He should have a big 2015 too when he releases Pray To God anyway. The full results: 23 Calvin Harris 10 Oliver Heldens 10 Robin Schulz 5 David Guetta 6 Martin Garrix That's it for last year's awards season, we may have another at the end of this year if there is enough interest. Thanks for reading voting and commenting if you have done so |
