Channel 4 are in the process of hyping up their ambitious new period 10-part drama. It is set in 1932 and tells the story of the decline of the British empire and the birth of modern India. It features Julie Walters, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Jemima West, Nikesh Patel and Roshan Seth.

I love Julie Walters and the trailer looks good so I will certainty be checking it out!

Looks quite spectacular. Channel 4 do period drama better than BBC these days. This looks so much more lavish than Wolf Hall.

Oh I've seen the trailer a couple of times, I'll definitely have to check this out. Is there a première date yet though as all the ads just say 'coming soon'?

As far as I'm aware, there's not a public air date but the 'coming soon' trailers have been going for a while now so I would guess it'll be late Feb/early March.

Hopefully soon anyway as I'm excited!

It was only boring if you have the attention span of a goldfish.

I thought as an opener it did a good job of setting up the story and establishing the characters. I definitely detected a hint of incestual longing by the brother for his sister.

I really enjoyed this!

Apart from the shooting, there was nothing too noteworthy to discuss but I feel the purpose of this episode was more of an introduction into the setting/background/characters which it did perfectly. Perhaps it was slightly too long but that shouldn't be a problem for future episodes. I remain excited for what the rest of the series has to offer as it looks like it's going to build up throughout although I do feel the coming soon trailer showed a bit too much.

It was only boring if you have the attention span of a goldfish.

Or maybe people who DO have a good attention span legitimately did find it an absolute chore/bore to sit through
