So... Katy's already blown us away (I think) with her SuperBowl performance, and it should be surfacing into YouTube with no copyright infringement in a few hours or so. Now I know it's an American thing, but I just want your opinion: Who's next?

Maybe Taylor? It would follow the recent pattern of performers coming out of album eras and capping them off with a halftime show (Beyoncé with 4, Bruno with Unorthodox, Katy with Prism).

But what about Madonna and the BEP's?

Well, I think the BEPs and Madonna were different because the NFL were trying something new after getting flak for booking only legacy rock acts year after year to avoid the controversy of the Janet/Justin fiasco. And iirc, there was backlash against the BEPs because they were too young and bleep-bloopy, so they probably brought in Madonna the following year to appease both sides (her new music was bleep-bloopy, but at least she was a legacy act herself). I think it wasn't until the positive reception to Beyoncé that they really became comfortable booking current acts that have built a solid catalog in the past 5-10 years, and after Beyoncé, Bruno, and Katy, it seems like Taylor would be a logical choice since she'd be coming off the 1989 era then.

I'd love Kelly Clarkson or P!nk to perform one day. They've been snubbed for too long.

I'd say Taylor was a good bet.

Taylor is the biggest force in music right now. BUT she has a Coca Cola deal, which could be an obstacle, so I'm not sure if she would/could do it, since her coca cola deal is very good for her

For some reason, I don't think Taylor will be doing it for another couple of years yet. Which is a shame.

I can see Kanye doing it in all honesty.

Taylor Swift I'm sure there must be something in the Coca-Coca deal, otherwise I think she would have been asked.

Btw it's Superbowl 50 next year so.. I think it will be someone huge, and not a "current" act. Or it will be a massive multi-act event.

No to Kanye.

I think Gaga would do a good job.

Didn't even think about Taylor's Coca-Cola deal!

Yeah, I think Rihanna will perform at some point.

Surely it would be somebody along the likes of Prince/Aerosmith/Bruce Springsteen...

I was gonna say along the lines of No Doubt.

Surely for guys they would consider Usher maybe? I also agree with P!nk being an optimal choice since her concert theatrics are among the best.

Just a question: who's currently promoting Pepsi?

Who said they would just get one big artist for the 50th edition next year? I was actually thinking it's likely to be more than one of those! They could get Rihanna, some big old rock band that announces their comeback shortly (there's always one of those each year biggrin.gif ) and Usher or something.

Kanye would be awesome.

Golddigger, Diamonds from Sierra Leonne (with special guest Shirley Bassey), Heartless/Love Lockdown, Homecoming (with special guest Chris Martin), Monster (with special guests Bon Iver and Nicki Minaj), FourFiveSeconds (with special guests Rihanna and Paul McCartney) and Stronger.

AMAZING.
