26 of you rated for our 67 favourite duets.

Spinning Adam was most impressed by the short list giving an average of 7.93 to each entry - more than twice as many points as Suedehead2 who gave an average 3.76.

I'll get through a few of the lower ranking duets this evening.

67 Tinie Tempah/Labrinth - Frisky
Average - 4.630

So, bottom of the pile is Frisky,

This is not the worst song - basically because of the sine-wave synth motif used throughout and some servicable drum and bass stuff near the end. It does, however, reveal that Tinie Tempah's voice is more annoying than Labrinth's.

66 Peter Gabriel/Youssou N'Dour - In Your Eyes
Average - 4.8

Obviously, this is an ever so worthy song because it's Peter Gabriel and Youssou N'Dour. I'm kind surprised it is so low as I didn't think it would register much derision. But it attracted 3 zeros ohmy.gif

I have to admit that I hadn't heard of it before this competition but I can't say I'll be listening to it again.

65 Taylor Swift/Ed Sheeran - Everything Has Changed
Average - 4.85

Very much flavours of 2014 are these pair - shouldn't they really have covered Especially for You and be done with it? I know this was released in 2013, though.

It's ok, I suppose - possibly because Ed doesn't get much voice-time.

64 Jennifer Lopez/LL Cool J - All I Have
Average - 5.0

Being, as it is, a ballad from J-Lo it's exactly how you expect - saccharine and schmaltzy, where she attempts to recycle one of the hooks from I'm Real. It remember hating her a lot more back in 2001/02/03 but having just listened to this and I'm Real (purely for research, purposes, you understand) I can't remember exactly why. She was and still is pretty inoffensive.

LL Cool J carries himself in the usually smoothness.

63 Phil Collins/Phillip Bailey - Easy Lover
Average - 5.25

Much like J-Lo, in that I used to hate him a lot more. This is just more unobjectionable stuff, really.

The video for this is obviously a huge inspiration to Christopher Nolan's Inception. For those who like to watch world class, competitive twerking, check out Collins at 3:07. Could someone please make a gif of that? biggrin.gif

62 The Killers/Lou Reed - Tranquilize
Average - 5.42

Now this is awesome. One of the darkest singles they've released. It's a huge pity they didn't pursue this direction afterwards. It's full of hooks, for me.

It spent a while in last place in this rate, and that's probably understandable because it's hardly a pop masterpiece.

61 Elaine Paige/Barbara Dickson - I Know Him So Well
Average - 5.45

It's a bit surprising that this arrives so early in the countdown given that it features two female vocalists, and Buzzjack usually looses it's sh*i of that sort of thing. Add to this that it was written by the boys from ABBA and it's perplexing why it didn't pick up more points.

It's a kind of pre-curser to The Boy is Mine. With less sass, obviously.

60 TI/Rihanna - Live Your Life
Average - 5.46

One of the comments on the video on Yourtube is the following

"The song title should be: I stole a part of one of the best songs that ever existed, because I can't write my own songs, I can get away with it because not many Americans know the original song, so give me all the attention that O-zone deserves."

biggrin.gif

Not the worst some she's ever put her name to.

59 Drake/Majid Jordan - Hold On, We're Going Home
Average - 5.5

Next up is this Drake/Majid Jordan track, which is typically impeccably well produced. Unremarkable apart from, though.

Live Your Life is such a jam! Hold On We're Going Home is lovely too, not my absolute fave Drake song but it's decent.

58 Keri Hilson/Timbaland Return The Favor
Average - 5.52

Speaking of impeccably produced this is Timbaland by numbers which I guess, at the time, was better than anyone else's by numbers. His sound was becoming overexposed though and long since it had been seen as cutting-edge and perhaps this reflected in the track's success. As a duet it is also typical of Timaland's involvement with female vocalists - basically, his usual seductive self.

Live Your Life and Tranquilize should be way up right at the top of this rate. The rap in Live Your Life is one of my favourite raps in a song, and anything O-Zone related is good for me so it's not even very much down to Rihanna that I love it (although she does help).

And Tranquilize has one of the best buildups in a song I've ever heard and Brandon and Lou's voices match pretty perfectly.

57 Cheryl Cole/will.i.am - 3 Words
Average - 5.54

Single handedly the most interesting thing that either of these two people have done away from their old band. Resolutely unpoppy and in no way bombastic or obvious - I'm sure some thought it was boring but some thought it was hypnotic and I was one of those people.
