What are your favourite songs of the year so far?

I think it's been pretty apalling three months in tbh. I really hope it picks up soon.

My faves are mostly singles from albums last year; The Night Is Still Young, One Last Time, All Hands On Deck and Trouble. I also really like King, Lighthouse, Love Me Like You Do, Talking About, Say Something and I Bet.

Nothing has wowed me as of yet though really.

Comebacks from Rihanna and Kelly Clarkson have massively disappointed me also. Especially Rihanna who I had always considered one of my fave artists of all time sad.gif

How about you?

I think this year is already really strong for music! Kelly, Marina, Charli and Fall Out Boy all delivered great albums I can play start to end, and Madonna's was better than expected too.

As for best songs - King, Hold My Hand, Pray to God, Want to Want Me... quite a poptastic three months really!

It's been very below par in the charts, which is mainly because of the slow turnover at the top rather than a dearth of good songs. But, I think it's starting to pick up, there are quite a few tracks that are just taking off or have the potential to be future hits that I love, Firestone and Runaway (U&I) are two examples that spring to mind.

But as far as albums are going it's gone rather well and it looks fairly promising to continue. Marina and Fall Out Boy have both delivered great albums (completely come round to AB/AP now <3), tons of my favourite acts are releasing: Muse and Nightwish have gotten off to a great start with their eras (Psycho and Shudder Before The Beautiful are both fantastic advertisements for their albums), Rihanna's also had a decent start what with FourFiveSeconds coming right out of left-field.

Plus I already have a couple of acts that have shown themselves in a new light for me, Halestorm and Susanne Sundfor, and that's always good for a year. I think it has the potential to be a great year for music based on the foundations currently there.

I've spent most of the year so far listening to Madonna, Kendrick and Drake. Not too much has wowed me beyond these three, but I am anticipating new Kanye music so there is more to come hopefully.

Not been overly disappointed - FROOT and Piece By Piece have been okay, Reflection I've had a complete turn around for and despite it's under performance, G.R.L.'s Lighthouse was amazing. I don't know when it'll come but I think 2015 will be made for me (in terms of music), when 25 is released, if it's even called that!

Chart music has been absolutely diabolical, really. The only top 10 its I've LOVED/really liked are Take Me To Church (which was obviously 2014 anyway, well 2013 really!!), FourFiveSeconds, Say Something, Love ME Like You Do and King. And I guess Heartbeat Song but that's her weakest single in absolutely YEARS.

Kelly disappointed a bit, Piece by Piece is solid but the standard was so high it was always going to be her weakest since Thankful. Same with Froot really, solid enough but it pales in comparison to Family Jewels and especially Electra Heart. Album wise there hasn't been too much else, but Louane's was decent and Rebel Heart was much better than expected. Susanne Sundfor's is great too and Courtney Barnett! Very excited about Ginny Blackmore's album in April, and I'm sure there's more to come, I can see Rihanna maybe randomly Beyonceing her or at least releasing it with little notice.

But outside of chart stuff, there's been quite a few wonderful singles, such as:

Loreen - Paper Light
Paulini - Air It All Out (7th Heaven Mix) - late 2014 but was a 2015 Plug.dj and later BJSC discovery *.*
Edurne - Amanecer
Isa - Don't Stop
Marina & The Diamonds - I'm A Ruin (if it counts, not really a single I guess)

Then there are 2014 singles carrying over such as Talking Body, All Hands On Deck, Style and One Last Time.

There has been some total slayage from Brandon Flowers, Nightwish, Natalie Imbruglia, Lawson and Madonna in terms of singles. Not bought many albums this
year but Nightwish look likely to be hard to top when their newbie comes out.

I have really loved this year so far in terms of charts and music.

Lighthouse is definitely by far my favourite song this year, I find it so inspiring beautiful and an absolute masterpiece heart.gif Carly has slayed so badly with her comeback, love me like you do and style are so amazing and their are so many gems from this year. Also the charts has had great #1's as well for once (bar chart muderers)

I thought Charli was terrible and Marina has done much better. I do like I'm A Ruin and Blue though.

I forgot to mention Madonna but I think I had heard most of her stuff last year.

Song-wise, this year's been quite good but not absolutely stellar for me. I've managed to quite easily get my top 20 of the year, in alphabetical order:

Carly Rae Jepsen - I Really Like You
Charli XCX - Doing It (feat. Rita Ora)
Cody Simpson - New Problems
Conor Maynard - Talking About
Delta Goodrem - Only Human
Eduard Romanyuta - I Want Your Love
Ellie Goulding - Love Me Like You Do
G.R.L. - Lighthouse
Hozier - Take Me To Church
Iggy Azalea - Trouble (feat. Jennifer Hudson)
James Bay - Hold Back the River
Lia Marie Johnson - Moment Like You
Luke Friend - Hole in My Heart
Madonna - Living For Love
Niykee Heaton - Cold War
Rachel Taylor - Porcelain
Reed Deming - Satellites
Tori Kelly - Nobody Love
Ulrik Munther - Nån gång
Years & Years - King

OK Hozier isn't really 2015 but it only hit me this year heart.gif and stanning a Eurovision track in March is very unlike me laugh.gif

Album-wise, I've got a holy trinity and care for very little outside that. Meghan Trainor, Charli XCX and James Bay are my top 3 in some order which I really can't decide on at the moment.

Been to two gigs already this year with at least 7 more to come laugh.gif My schedule:

20/03/2015 - The X Factor Live Tour
25/03/2015 - Charli XCX: Sucker Tour
13/04/2015 - Meghan Trainor: That Bass Tour
23/04/2015 - Luke Friend: Hole In My Heart Tour
02/05/2015 - The Vamps: Meet The Vamps Arena Tour
06/05/2015 - Cody Simpson: Free Tour
17/05/2015 - S Club 7: Bring It All Back 2015
22/05/2015 - Hunter Hayes: Let's Be Crazy Tour
24/09/2015 - One Direction: On The Road Again Tour

This year has been awful chart-wise, the least I've been interested in them ever and I can't even be bothered to check out the songs I don't know.
Apart from that I think it's been pretty great! It's been quite dominated by urban acts for me so far.

01 Kanye West All Day (feat. Theophilus London, Allan Kingdom & Paul McCartney)
02 Ciara I Bet
03 Jeremih Planes (feat. J Cole)
04 Big Sean Blessings (feat. Drake)
05 Marina & the Diamonds I'm a Ruin

01 Drake If You're Reading This It's Too Late
02 Big Sean Dark Sky Paradise
03 Rae Sremmurd SremmLife
04 Marina & the Diamonds Froot
05 Kendrick Lamar To Pimp a Butterfly (I'm sure this will move up, just haven't listened enough yet)

Just can't get enough of All Day. My favourite song in a long while. I Bet has prompted me to listen to Ciara so much over the last couple of months that she's become one of my all-time most played and favourite artists. Such a great discography.

At least this year is picking up after what monstrosities 2014 left us drama.gif

So far my overall year playlist is shaping up to be:
Alesso f/Roy English - "Cool"
Ariana Grande - "One Last Time"
AronChupa - "I'm An Albatraoz"
Big Sean f/E-40 - "I Don't F*ck With You"
Calvin Harris f/HAIM - "Pray To God"
Carly Rae Jepsen - "I Really Like You"
Cash Cash f/Julia Michaels - "Surrender"
Charli XCX f/Rita Ora - "Doing It"
Conor Maynard - "Talking About"
Deorro f/Chris Brown - "Five More Hours"
Ellie Goulding - "Love Me Like You Do"
Fifth Harmony f/Kid Ink - "Worth It"
Flo Rida f/Sage The Gemini & Lookas - "GDFR"
Lilly Wood & the Prick f/Robin Schulz - "Prayer In C"
Natalie La Rose f/Jeremih - "Somebody"
Ne-Yo f/Juicy J - "She Knows"
Nick Jonas f/Jhenè Aiko - "Chains" (remix)
Nicki Minaj f/Drake & Lil Wayne - "Truffle Butter"
Olly Murs f/Demi Lovato - "Up"
Pitbull f/Ne-Yo - "Time Of Our Lives"
Taylor Swift - "New Romantics"
Taylor Swift - "Style"
Tori Kelly - "Nobody Love"
The Weeknd - "Earned It"
Zedd f/Selena Gomez - "I Want You To Know"
+ loads more.

Songs I Hate So Far:
1.) Usher f/Juicy J - "I Don't Mind" (I DO mind thank you very much)
2.) Sam Smith f/John Legend - "Lay Me Down" (this version in particular, sans John Legend it's Sam's best in a while)
3.) James Bay - "Hold Back The River" (borefest)
4.) Maroon 5 - "Sugar" (got real bored of it real fast, and it's getting annoying)
5.) R5 - "Smile" (a.k.a. rip off of "Brave" by Sara Bareilles)

Fairly enjoying 2015 so far! Noel Gallagher and Kendrick Lamar have been capturing my attention most in terms of albums!

Aside from obviously amazing BJSC discoveries from last months contest (e.g. Paulini, Everything Everything), these have all been wonderful:

Galantis - Runaway (U & I)
Marlon Roudette - When the Beat Drops Out
Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - Ballad of the Mighty I
Kendrick Lamar - u / King Kunta
Years & Years - King
Eric Prydz v CHVRCHES - Tether
Calvin Harris ft. HAIM - Pray to God
Carly Rae Jepsen - I Really Like You
Natalie La Rose ft. Jeremih - Somebody
Ellie Goulding - Love Me Like You Do
G.R.L - Lighthouse
Olly Murs - Seasons
Sia - Elastic Heart
Nick Jonas ft. Tinashe - Jealous
Mumford & Sons - Believe
Purity Ring - bodyache
Royal Blood - Out of the Black
Kanye West - All Day
99 Souls - The Girl is Mine
Susanne Sundfør - Delirious

Amongst many others. Chart music has been relatively good for me, just not fast-moving enough. I look forward to the upcoming releases of some of those already mentioned (Galantis, Carly, Nick Jonas etc.)

I've been liking this year a lot in terms of music, chart music has been a little slow but it's been mainly great stuff if you ignore the slowness and the existence of Sam Smith. Noel Gallagher & Muse have impressed me with their comebacks thus far and they're two of my fave acts so was satisfied. The blogosphere/SoundCloud atmosphere has also thrown out some gems as well.

I am glad someone appreciates I Bet as much as I do. I don't think she will ever get a big hit again but I love that she continues on regardless. If her album is anywhere near as good as her least, I think it could be in contention for one of the best this year wub.gif
