HEAT 05
 Oh hi I didn't see you there. Welcome to the Heat 5 I guess. First up we have got Malta, a home of Chiara and another couple of dozen people. A few weeks ago I met a Maltese guy who has been living here for 6 years now in a Moscow gay club so yes I can now confirm Maltese people DO exist and they ALL love Eurovision. This is the fifth and last country to have participated in ALL of the 20 contests in the last 20 years without a single break. Such a committed bunch! Ira Losco and Chiara's second whinefest will probably make it through to the Semifinals, let's be honest. But you never know really. Next we are moving to the titshaking capital of Europe, GREECE. This year is like the first time since 2006 they sent something you will probably feel out of place shaking your ass and tits to. Well, Watch My Dance came close. Here it's also pretty obvious who will be the ones going further. Kalomira and Helena? I don't mind such a result but only on one condition - Horepse finishes Top 10. I just looked at the map and realised that all of the 4 countries in this heat are geographically connected oops. So now we are travelling to Switzerland and seeing how dull their selection has been in the last 20 years. A few highlights aside, obviously. This subheat is more unpredictable than the other two. Vanilla Ninja will probably bag themselves a spot in the Semifinals but who will grab the other place? Gooddeltas will be voting for Lovebugs, Conderellas for Il pleut de l'or, relative newbies in Eurovision will pretend they already love Sebalter so much they will give him 10/12 points, others appreciate DJ Bobo's fashion forwardness with the whole vampire thing that absolutely blew up just a few years later and the rest with no taste will be giving their top marks to stuff like Sinplus. CELEBRATE OH CELEBRATE. COZ THE WORLD IS A WONDERFUL PLACE. And finally we have Italy, who only recently returned to the contest and has been in the Top 10 thrice since then, except for last year where floppy Emma Marrone broke the tradition. Actually this is Italy's worst result since the 70s I think. 70s! I'd bet on Nina to beat the others for the Semifinal crown but let's hope y'all SEE THE LIGHT AND DECIDE RAPHAEL WAS WORTH THE 2ND POSITION IN 2011. WHICH HE WAS. MALTA
QUALIFIERS: 2002: Ira Losco - 7th Wonder 2005: Chiara - Angel  Those are very first qualifiers from their years! YASSS SLAY etc. The two of them received 204 points overall. First qualifier is the almost universally adored by Buzzjack Ira Losco who slayed and qualified over the actual winner of 2002! This was one of the few instances when the public DID get it (HORRIBLY) wrong. The next times it happened was in 2008 and 2011 so it does happen quite often. Either way, Buzzjack fixed Eurovision's mistake and Ira is now slaying in the Semifinals! Alongside Ira Losco there we have 3% of Malta's population, Chiara, with her 2nd Eurovision entry which came 2nd originally (beaten by Helena's anthem of life) and became the 2nd 2nd place for Malta in Eurovision. Can she ever get #1 in anything?  Vodka and Vertigo were the highest losers and What If SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH climbed to 5th even though at the beginning it didn't look like it'd be Top 10 let alone gather more than 50 points! Tom Kay proves yet again that he probably has never heard that song performed live in the 2009 contest. I very recently have rewatched the performance and oh dear. The debut Chiara entry, probably the song with some of the cheesiest lyrics in the entire Eurovision, finishes in 7th. One point away from 2nd place and 7 from winning in 1998, this was actually Chiara's biggest chance to win the thing and bring the contest to Valetta (lol imagine that hot mess of a contest). And I CANNOT HELP but HURL ABUSE at those who voted for I Do aka the WORST EUROVISION SONG OF ALL TIMES. Alex, Tom Kay and Luke! ADJUST SETTINGS ON YOUR HEARING AIDS PLEASE. |

QUALIFIERS: 2001: Antique - (I Would) Die for You 2005: Helena Paparizou - My Number One  That's 100% of possible Helena Paparizous in the Semifinals *.* she got 233 points in total for the two entries as well. Originally 3rd placers Antique (I'd say just Helena 1.0 coz no1curr about that other guy but I might get sued later for that so yeah) join Natasha St-Pier from their own year and solo Helena who WON the thing in 2005 will be joining the runner up from her year, Chiara. Awww ain't that nice. All of them got the ORIGINAL RIVALS to settle the score with! I might just fix the Semifinals and put the pairs together once again <3 Kalomira was the only song that got votes from every person who voted here. SLAY HENNI. The last 4 votes really turned the situation around for her. This is probably THE tit-shaking anthem of Greece! So it's nice to see that it's 3rd and, to tell you a secret, it wasn't THAT far from Helena. OPA quite surprisingly finishes 4th which is a good thing but still feels WEIRD. TIRREN REJOICES as Pia Prosefkhi finishes in the Top half and 10 points away from THE basic bitch of Greece, Cafeteria Cafeteriou. Truly a terrible representation of such an ikonec nation in terms of their Eurovision entries (culture? history? customs? WHO CARES! We judge only by Eurovision entries!). Srsly NO TITS would want to shake to THIS. Following qualification of Michalis' peer from 2002, S.A.G.A.P.O.O. manages to get an ikonec 0 points and finish dead last for Greece. But fear not, hen, we have a SPECIAL PLAN for you at the end of this. |
