Anybody following the various major European leagues this season?
Paris St Germain are French champions having now won eight consecutive matches. Bayern became uncatchable weeks ago, and immediately started losing (having now lost four league games and their German Cup SF in a row). More interesting in the Bundesliga is the battle between Wolfsburg and Gladbach (who are massively over performing) for second, and whether or not Dortmund can sneak into sixth place after their nightmare season to have a shot at Europe League. In Serie A it's a similar tale - Juve way out ahead, but second place could go to Lazio or Roma, and the two face each other next weekend in the Rome derby. Napoli also in contention, whilst AC Milan seem to be in absolute turmoil having lost again today and with a new ownership and new manager around the corner this summer. More drama than the premier league anyway. |

The other issue of interest in the Bundesliga is whether Hamburg are relegated after 50 years in the top flight. With one game to go, they are in the bottom two. They have to beat Schalke next weekend and hope other results go their way. They could also end up in the relegation / promotion play-off, as happened last season.

Barcelona are Spanish champions again after winning against last year's champions, Atletico Madrid.

If Köln can beat Wolfsburg this weekend and we take Augsburg then we finish second which would be just champion.
Just got to pray my two teams don't meet in the champions league next season!! The turn around for Dortmund is insane. Thought they would be relegated for sure at Christmas |

Juventus defeated Lazio in added time last night (2-1) to win their first Coppa Italia on twenty years.
Mats Hummels has indicated he'll be staying at Dortmund, putting those Utd rumours to bed. |

It's the tenth time that Juventus has won the Coppa Italia isn't it? A league/cup double for them. Could they do the treble in the Champions League Final?

Slightly off-topic but:
PSG's David Luiz has dismissed reports from the media saying that he is a virgin following him saying that he 'would wait' until he was married to having sex with his girlfriend. Whatever you say, David! |

Ghent have won the Belgian title for the first time in their 115-year history. Well done them.

Hamburg will be in the promotion / relegation play-off for the second successive year. They will play Karlsruher, who finished third in Zwitte Bundesliga. Ingolstadt and Darmstadt have won automatic promotion.

Nurnberg to win their 2. Bundesliga match at half time and full time was the final component of a five fold bet I put on today to win 202 quid from a five pound outlay. They were 1-0 up at half time, but Aalen equalised. After about 78 minutes Aalen had a red card and I was given a jolt of hope that Nurnberg would pull ahead vs a ten man team, but it didn't happen... Until the 87th minute I'm afraid there is no moral to this story, I just wanted to show off.

Hamburg drew the first leg of their play-off at home to Karlsruher. The second leg is on Monday.

I'm sure they'll find a way to cling on.
Rangers lost 1-3 at home to Motherwell so looks like they're staying put. Meanwhile it's the French and German Cups on Saturday. PSG to destroy Auxerre is a given, but Dortmund vs Wolfsburg is much tougher to call. I'll go with Dortmund though. |

Hamburg only won the relegation play-off on away goals last season. They might need to scrape through in the same way again.

Rafa Bentiez's last game in charge of Napoli ended in defeat against Lazio which means that Lazio get the final Champions League place ahead of Napoli.
Barcelona won the Copa de Ray with a 3-1 win over Athletic Bilbao. Thanks to this super solo goal from Messi: PSG become the first French team to complete a domestic treble with victory over Auxerre in the French Cup Final. Jurgen Klopp's last game in charge of Dortmund ended in defeat in the DFB Pokal final against Wolfsburg with a 3-1 defeat. Disgraceful scenes at the end of the Motherwell v Rangers match which led to Motherwell staying in the Scottish Premiership with a 3-0 win over Rangers. Thanks to this: The SPFL will meet with the Scottish FA and the police today over the aftermath of that match. |

Hamburg stay up after winning the away leg 2-1. They were heading down at the end of the 90 minutes, but got a very lucky free kick for handball. They scored from it to equalise and take the tie into extra time. They will remain the only side to have payed every season in the Bundesliga when they start their 53rd season. Bayern Munich missed the first season, but have been there ever since.
