how do you pronounce scone

plus among my search for if this thread already existed I found that more people (on buzzjack many years ago) say 'bath' without the r sound mellow.gif

it's definitely BARTH mad.gif

ScOWN is what I initially learnt from my mother, before being corrected to scON wherever else and having no reason to believe that wasn't conclusive until this week. ScOWN certainly makes logical sense but I'd still say scON, on the like 0.5 times per year I have a reason to say it that is.

Not that 'scone' comes up in conversation much, but my automatic pronunciation is 'scON'.

Also absolute YES at 'baRth'. It's rather uncommon to say it that way in this area but I've always said it that way. Probably the biggest extent of poshness that I have achieved.

Sc-Own just sounds so posh which puts me off. Whenever I hear people say it they seem to have posh accents as well in general.
