Soe has posted an email sent from his extremely reliable source on Digital Spy Forums. His source explains the reason behind FUMF not getting played by mainstream radio.

This is the email sent to Soe:

QUOTE
A very reliable source said that Syco are behind sabotaging and damaging Leona's career because she left them and they feel that the songs that she has written is about them and the way she was treated by them.. They have their ways and have done it before.

She is one of a few that has not sold out to a music industry that use showing flesh and sex images to sell records..
She has not sold out to an industry that demands chart success even if the music is not tasteful..recording artists today seemed to be judged by their chart position...
Just like a lot of people out there..Leona has a life long challenge to write from the heart and hope that her singing and music gets heard..she has been through some very tough challenges all said and done she is still the genuine caring person people fell in love with throughout her X factor platform journey..

The music industry changes people..most of them grow egos and attitudes to fit in with a dog eat dog keep your jobs worth scared to change British attitude..
What has the world come to when we allow the press and media to make us believe the people that are genuinely caring and not glutton for fame are boring?
Again the press who like leeches jump on every situation at the first opportunity to first build you up then take you down like an angry wrestler..

The press and media build you up set you up then pull the legs from underneath you to take you down.. That's what they get paid to do and some of the mindless public jump on the bandwagon because this make their sad life's feel better!

Leona is arguably one of the best voices this country has found in recent years yet because of all the snobbery she has been ignored by the music powers that be... But Island will not let her go because in the end it's the music that counts..

It's really sad to see the her latest song Fire Under My Feet is doing really well in America but in her country of origin (England) the music power egos are doing their best to block the song from mainstream radio with bad publicity because they no longer control her!...

If you want to hear the full album fly American Airlines,..the full album will be on every seat console on their Aircrafts in their album music listening section soon!

We area some of the few that has heard her new Album named simply I AM it is without doubt her best album to date,..
This album needs to be heard.. The music powers that be with their egos are doing all they can to damage her reputation and distract from a genuine piece of music..

I would think this was BS if it wasn't for the fact it came straight from an extremely reliable source. So sad.

I don't think I believe that really, at the end of the day BBC Radio 2 was the station that was most suited to the song and they A-listed it so I'm not sure what else was to be expected. Fire Under My Feet isn't the type of song Radio 1 or Capital would playlist, so the only other one available is Heart and they tend to pick up songs late anyway. Comparing Leona to Kelly Clarkson, Heartbeat Song and Invincible do seem much more commercial-sounding than Fire Under My Feet does. That's not necessarily a bad thing but it does mean Leona is suited to the less mainstream station of Radio 2.

The issue wasn't airplay so much in the end, but the release strategy. I still think sticking to the original release date of June 28th and letting airplay from BBC Radio 2 build naturally could have secured Leona a top 40 position, and I'm not sure we should expect anything more from Leona singles at this stage. Although we only have one single to judge from so far, the comparison to Florence + The Machine is extremely valid in terms of their seemingly being a clear focus on album rather than single sales - Florence's singles have barely made the top 40 but still achieved a #1 album. I think Island will be wanting a top 3 album, and that is definitely a possibility. With this organic type of music Leona seems to be pursuing, major single success is unlikely.

I do see where you are coming from and I agree with the fact FUMF isn't best suited to Radio 1 and Capital, but I highly doubt this source would make something like this up. Leona was planning on appearing on Nick Grimshaw's Breakfast Show and there were radio deals in place. Syco has very strong links to Capital and we now know Nick Grimshaw is becoming a judge on X Factor this year. It may not be a complete attack on Leona - it may just be on FUMF since it is very clearly about Syco and Leona hasn't exactly hidden that in the lyrics and interviews.

Reliable source or not, this sound a little ridiculous to me. The song just isn't very good, that may have played a strong factor in radio not wanting to play it. Plus (bar One More Sleep) it's been a very long time since her last proper hit.

It's sad if its true.

I don't believe the "not suited to Radio 1 and Capital" rubbish that people spout. There's been plenty of similar sounding songs that are massive hits; see OneRepublic's two big hits from the last era.

Besides, I agree with Ryan that the release strategy was the problem, not the airplay. If they kept the 28th June release date, it would've continued building up pre-orders and airplay. But they released it just when it started to finally make some progress.

I think Soe wrote that himself lol. He's been wrong about a few things before.

The song just wasn't good enough, for an artist that's been out of the spotlight for some time. and on top of that, the release date put the nail in the coffin.

It's not doing 'SO WELL' Ameirca either. That seems to just be something Leona fans are latching onto to compensate for the fact the era is going terribly wrong so far. Yes, it got to about 120 on iTunes briefly, but that isn't THAT hard for a new song, despite their being not much promo, it soon plummeted out of the top 1,500 and hasn't been seen since.

The song is underwhelming but Island could have made more of it if they wanted to. She could have had better promo slots - a whole series of Graham Norton just went by... They changed the release date 3 times with no logic...Leona should be coming back with a bang, not a whimper. It's nothing to do with Syco, it's Island.

OK. The 'email' seems to have been written by a fan. The detail just gives him/her away. I wish people could just be a little more patient. It doesn't matter whether there is a deliberate effort to block Leona from UK Radio, doing that worldwide impossible. Let's wait and see how the song fares in America. This to me is its final 'bad' week. Patience. please.

Why would Soe make the email up? That might piss off his source and make him stop telling Soe things.

A few things might have changed after we were told them, but 95% of the info Soe has told us the last year or two has been correct.

Exactly. It's just rude to accuse someone of making it up - especially if that someone has been saviour over the past few years in terms of insider info.

The song seemed to get a lot more airplay than I expected it to, which suggests that this is a load of shit made by a fan on a boring day to me.

Is it not also rude to accuse someone of sabotaging an artist's career? The email avoids saying what Syco have apparently done to sabotage the song's chance of success - in fact, the first paragraph is the only piece of relevance to the matter before they go on about how fantastic Leona is and how the song and album are the best ever. As Griff says, it does sound like something a bored fan made up.

I have to agree to an extent, it doesn't actually say what Syco have supposedly done to achieve this sabotage?

Believe what you want to believe. I know Soe wouldn't make it up. A lot of things add up in light of this. That's all I'm saying.

The Airplay for the song in the end was fine. It went top 40 in the Airplay charts, songs which much less support have managed to be hits time and time again.. Bradon Flowers' new song has had pretty much the same support as Leona and is doing far better.

The song has failed due to not connecting enough with the public / messy release date.

Yeah, I know some people love FUMF and I'm so glad that they do. I'm always gonna buzz off of people liking her songs but sadly for me FUMF was never gonna hit the big time. You know a hit record when you hear it. Bleeding Love obviously a hit. FUMF didn't sound like a hit for whatever reason. And Joe, I can see what you mean now haha tongue.gif.
