Dansk Melodi Grand Prix has been confirmed to take place on 13th February at Horsen's Forum.

The Danish selection is usually very high quality with a shit winner, but hopefully after this year's DNQ they sort themselves out!

Lineup and, by accident, the songs have been revealed this morning:

QUOTE
David Jay – Rays of Sunlight
Simone – Heart Shaped Hole
Muri & Mario – To Stjerner
Sophia Nohr – Blue Horizon
Veronicas Illusion – The Wrong Kind
Lighthouse x – Soldiers of Love
Kristel Lisberg – Who Needs a Heart
Jessica – Break it
Good Bracelet – Breakaway
Anja Nissen – Never Alone

Simone was a nearly ran in 2010 and 2013 and Anja Nissen is an alum of The Voice Australia (so Liam probably stans her) with a song co-written by Emmelie de forest - and trust, you can tell.

Simone and Anja are the names that stood out to me so I've listened to both, the former is very Sia and the latter is a bit Emmelie de Forest (which is obviously helped by the fact Emmelie co-wrote it).

Both are very good, I think I possibly prefer Anja on first listen but I feel like it's probably Simone's time to finally win the selection after two near misses.

What is going on at DR though, that's two years in a row with an early leak of their finalists!

A quick listen through and I don't think Denmark will be winning in Sweden again.

Heart Shaped Hole is SENSATIONAL! *.*

Seriously I need this hot transparently Sia-aping shit to make it to Stockholm for an inevitable 18th place finish

Interesting to see Anja Nissen there, thought she might have been a contender to represent Australia this year but I guess not!

I'd be very happy if Simone won, I think I prefer it to Anja now even though she is still great! Slightly concerning that apparently Muri & Mario are winning a poll on DR's website but the odds are definitely in Simone's favour it seems. biggrin.gif

If they don't send Simone they should be BANNED altogether quite frankly.

I was hoping for it to EXPLODE but after coming to terms with it not being that kind of song and giving it another spin it's very nice. The bit that kicks in at the 2 minute mark is GLORIOUS.

listening to it with good headphones is so much better. verses >> chorus. the opportunity for one hell of an explosive moment was lost. sad.gif

although if she slays the f*** out of live vocals, this will easily go top 10 in the actual eurovision. pretending that she wins dmgp. and given the recent track record, we can only pray ;_;

Ratings:

David Jay – Rays of Sunlight - 3/10 - Watered down funk with a crap key change. Feels completely unnecessary and i have no desire to hear it ever again. So no doubt it will win and go to Eurovision as per Denmark's track record.

Simone – Heart Shaped Hole - 10/10 - This is really great, some lovely touches to the production and a brilliant melody - Denmark to win in Sweden again *.* Obviously a tribute to Chandelier but at least Sia is finally relevant enough to be copied in Eurovision *.*

Muri & Mario – To Stjerner - 9/10 - This could do very well, it's got the most relevant sound (by the account of the Major Lazer sound being a year more relevant than Chandelier). It's also likely to pick up votes due to being the only Danish song here, and apparently they're already quite popular. That bassline and the weird chorus sound is pretty addictive.

Sophia Nohr – Blue Horizon - 8.5/10 - A country/blues twinge is quite nice to hear in the Danish selection, particularly by a female singer and not a group of old men. Really quite pleasant.

Veronicas Illusion – The Wrong Kind - 9.5/10 - It's the Sats covering What Have I Done To Deserve This *.* Perhaps this will turn up in BJSC once it finishes last in DMGP. I LOVE this though, brilliantly trashy, Silas listen to this now *.*

Lighthouse x – Soldiers of Love 5/10 - A Vamps reject, they'd be left in the semis with this.

Kristel Lisberg – Who Needs a Heart - 8.5/10 - The intro and verses are quite lush, the chorus is quite lovely too, reminds me of We R One by Same Difference in parts.

Jessica – Break it - 8/10 - Sort of sounds like something from Pixie Lott's second album, and her voice has touches of Gabrielle (UK) to it in the chorus. I like it but it wouldn't do anything at ESC.

Bracelet – Breakaway - 6/10 - Ok. It tries to be anthemic but doesn't really ever quite get anywhere.

Anja Nissen – Never Alone - 8.5/10 - Anja de Forest *.* I can see why Emmelie didn't sing this herself, it's no Only Teardrops, or even Hopscotch, but there are some very pleasant parts to it, especially the strings and the drums.

Lighthouse x reminds me more of something Union J would come up with. By no means is that a bad thing for me as I love both of their albums, but this song is merely 'ok' imo.
