Afternoon all! Got my Uni timetable and annoyingly Friday clashes with the chart which is a shame sad.gif here for today though!

Retro faves:

2014

1- BLAME- Calvin Harris Ft John Newman (70,312)
2- PRAYER IN C- Lilly Wood & Robin Schulz (65,377)
3- IíM NOT THE ONLY ONE- Sam Smith (42,556) heart.gif
6- WALKING WITH ELEPHANTS- Ten Walls (37,187) heart.gif
7- AMNESIA- 5 Seconds Of Summer (34,959) heart.gif

Sam Smith's best solo offering here (though, that's not exactly a difficult feat). Always sounded much better to my ears than 'Stay With Me' despite similarities being pointed out - due to far more interesting production and a sultry sound. 'Walking With Elephants' was a massive favourite as well, and another great offering from 5SOS.

2010

2- TEENAGE DREAM- Katy Perry (61,835) heart.gif
4- PLEASE DONíT LET ME GO- Olly Murs (52,887) heart.gif
5- FOR THE FIRST TIME- The Script (52,126)
6- PARTY GIRL- McFly (40,021)
7- LOVE THE WAY YOU LIE- Eminem Ft Rihanna (35,812)
8- KATY ON A MISSION- Katy B (29,400)*

As a major Olly fan at the time (and still now) I was so thrilled he got the number one over Katy Perry at the time. Since though, 'Teenage Dream' has grown in my affections hugely and now definitely in my top 5 of hers. This should've been its week at number one!

Omg Emma's Imagination though, those Sky 1 'Must Be the Music' contestants burnt out fairly quickly.

2005

2- DARE- Gorillaz (22,556) heart.gif
3- DOCTOR PRESSURE- Mylo Vs Miami Sound Machine (19,881) heart.gif
4- FIX YOU- Coldplay (18,919) heart.gif
7- THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING IDLE- Oasis (15,200)* heart.gif
9- LAY YOUR HANDS- Simon Webbe (11,900)*

I've always found 'Don't Cha' a bit overrated, PCD have much better. Aside from that though, there are quite a few all-time favourites here! I speak of my love of Oasis, Gorillaz and Coldplay enough haha, aside from that 'Doctor Pressure' is definitely one of the best 00s dance tunes, completely elevating the samples. wub.gif

2000

1- LADY (HEAR ME TONIGHT)- Modjo (142,000)
5- MUSIC- Madonna (48,000)*
6- GROOVEJET (IF THIS AINíT LOVE)- Spiller (40,000)* heart.gif
8- BIG BROTHER THEME- Element 4 (32,000)* *.*

Fantastic number one there - one of the rare songs in 2000 managing more than one week atop the chart! Elsewhere - 'Music' has always been a bit of a guilty pleasure Madge fave. Amazing also that the Big Brother Theme charted so high, quite the juggernaut. It's actually a really great theme as well *.*

1995

3- IíLL BE THERE FOR YOU- The Rembrandts (57,000)*
4- COUNTRY HOUSE- Blur (53,000)*
8- WATERFALLS- T.L.C (28,000)*
10- ROLL WITH IT- Oasis (23,000)* heart.gif

The F.R.I.E.N.D.S theme *.* Still such a classic.

Biography
Rock City, also known as R. City and Planet VI, is an American musical duo formed in 2003, from Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. The duo, composed of brothers Theron and Timothy Thomas, who use the stage names, A.I. and Uptown AP respectively, are also a songwriting and record production team. The Thomas brothers are perhaps best known for writing and producing hit singles for several prominent artists, including Sean Kingston ("Take You There"), Miley Cyrus ("We Can't Stop"), Nicki Minaj ("Only") and Rihanna ("Pour It Up"), among others.

The duo has also contributed to numerous Grammy-nominated albums including Rihanna's Unapologetic (which won Best Urban Contemporary Album), Jennifer Hudson's self-titled album (which won Best R&B Album), and Ariana Grande's My Everything (which was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album).

Rock City also releases original music, having released several mixtapes since 2008. The group had previously been signed to Geffen Records and KonLive, where they released a series of mixtapes with the primary title, PTFAO (Put the F*ckin' Album Out)óa reference to the fact that their debut album Wake the Neighbors, had not been given a release date. In 2011, the duo was released from their contract with KonLive, and founded Rebelution Records, on which they intended to release their debut album. A new album, What Dreams Are Made Of, is due to be released in 2015, after being signed to Kemosabe Records and RCA Records by Dr. Luke.

Biography
Cleverly using dance music blogs as the platform to launch his career, Tim Berg, aka Avicii, has since become one of the most prominent producers on the burgeoning Swedish house scene. Born in Stockholm in 1989, Berg only started making music at the age of 18, writing and remixing tracks in his bedroom and then leaking them onto various blogs. Influenced by Daft Punk and Steve Angello, his melodic house sound gained a huge following, and led to support from TiŽsto, who invited him to perform a weekly residency at Privilege in Ibiza, and Pete Tong, who released first single "Manman" through his Bedroom Bedlam label. After he remixed tracks for Little Boots, Robyn, and Dizzee Rascal, Berg's first mainstream release, the Ministry of Sound instrumental "Seek Bromance," became a huge hit across Europe and later in the U.K., thanks to a vocal version featuring Amanda Wilson. In 2012 he released the song "2 Million" after reaching that number of followers on Facebook, while his single "Le7els" and its accompanying video were nominated at that year's MTV Music Video Awards. Towards the end of 2012 he released his highly-anticipated collaboration single with Nicky Romero. "I Could Be The One" was a smash hit and was featured heavily on reality TV shows and radio play across Europe. In 2013, Avicii teamed up with Ericsson and creates the first "crowdsourced" track which enabled the producer to connect to fans and promote his brand. The single "3 Million" was released to celebrate the 3 millionth fan on his Facebook page. "Le7els" was nominated for the Best Dance Recording at the 2013 Grammys but lost out to Skrillex & Sirah's "Bangarang". Ahead of his debut album #TRUE, he released the single "Wake Me Up" in June 2013. Featuring Aloe Blacc, it reached the top of the UK Charts and confidently showed off his new musical direction. ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi / iTunes

Biography
Selena Marie Gomez (/səˈliːnə məˈriː ˈɡoʊmɛz/ sə-lee-nə mə-ree goh-mez; Spanish pronunciation: [ˈɡomeθ]/[ˈɣ̞o̞me̞θ̟] or [ˈɡomes]/[ˈɣ̞o̞me̞s]; born July 22, 1992) is an American actress, singer and dancer. Born and raised in Grand Prairie, Texas, she was first featured on the children's series Barney & Friends in the early 2000s. In 2007, Gomez came to prominence after being cast in the Disney Channel television series Wizards of Waverly Place. She portrayed the starring character Alex Russo until its conclusion in 2012. She formed her band Selena Gomez & the Scene after signing a recording contract with Hollywood Records in 2008; they released the studio albums Kiss & Tell (2009), A Year Without Rain (2010), and When the Sun Goes Down (2011) before beginning a hiatus in 2012.

Gomez entered the film industry with star billings in feature films including Ramona and Beezus (2010), Monte Carlo (2011), and Hotel Transylvania (2012). She embraced an increasingly mature public image with her star billing in the controversial film Spring Breakers (2013) and her debut solo studio album Stars Dance (2013). The latter project debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 and spawned the Billboard Hot 100 top-ten single "Come & Get It". Gomez was released from her recording contract with Hollywood Records following the completion of her greatest hits album For You (2014). She subsequently signed with Interscope Records to continue work on her second studio album.

Beyond entertainment, Gomez has ventured into other endeavors. She has worked with numerous organizations for charitable causes, and has most notably worked with UNICEF for several years. She formed her own production company, July Moon Productions, in 2008. In Fall of 2010, Gomez launched her clothing line "Dream Out Loud" through Kmart; the brand features all material that was made from eco-friendly or recycled material. In 2011, she released a self-titled perfume.

Biography
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are an American hip hop duo formed in 2008, from Seattle, Washington. The duo is composed of Ben Haggerty, a rapper who goes by the name of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, a record producer, DJ, and professional photographer, who met the former at a photo shoot and they have significantly collaborated ever since. In 2009, they released their first collaborative effort, an EP titled VS. EP. They have since followed up with VS. Redux (2010) and the Grammy Award-winning album The Heist (2012).

Macklemore and Lewis' single "Thrift Shop" reached at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 2013. The single was premiered on commercial radio by radio personality Jay Postal on September 2, 2012, and was soon dubbed the first song since 1994 to top the Hot 100 chart without the support of a major record label by Billboard, although Macklemore, in a slightly unusual recording contract, pays a nominal percentage of sales to use Warner Bros. Records’ radio promotion department to push his singles. Their second single, "Can't Hold Us" also peaked at number one of the Hot 100 Chart, making Macklemore and Lewis the first duo in the chart's history to have their first two singles both reach the peak position. Macklemore and Lewis released their debut studio album The Heist on October 9, 2012, which charted at number 2 on the US Billboard 200. The pair was nominated for seven Grammy awards at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, winning four awards, including Best New Artist, Best Rap Album (The Heist), Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance ("Thrift Shop"). Thrift Shop has gained approximately 755,776,153 YouTube views as of August 29, 2015.

Biography
English singer/pianist Jasmine van den Bogaerde, who goes by the stage name "Birdy," was born in 1996 in Lymington, Hampshire. Precocious from the very start, Bogaerde began composing her own songs at the age of seven, and by 12 had secured the top spot (out of 10,000 competitors) at 2008's Open Mic UK, a popular live music competition that rewards the winner with a recording contract. In January of 2011, she released her first single, a cover of American indie rock outfit Bon Iver's "Skinny Love," which peaked at number 17 on the U.K. pop charts. Her eponymous full-length debut, released through Atlantic Records, arrived later that November. The record was a huge success, particularly in Australia, Belgium, Holland and France, where it shot straight to number one in the chart, while it also reached the UK Top 20. The collection of stripped back arrangements was mostly compiled of indie artists, including The Postal Service and Fleet Foxes, whose songs were overhauled by Bogaerde's haunting voice and sparse production. The follow-up to her debut presented a new phase in Bogaerde's development as her sophomore album Fire Within displayed her own songwriting talent with 11 original tracks. The album was written with help from collaborators such as Ryan Tedder (Beyoncť, Leona Lewis), Dan Wilson (Adele, Taylor Swift) and Mumford & Sons pianist Ben Lovett and was slated for release in 2013. ~ James Christopher Monger & Scott Kerr, Rovi / iTunes
