Apparently it'll be for the purpose of bringing more empathy to Facebook - so basically I imagine it'll be the option to have a dislike button for your status rather than a blanket introduction.

I hope so, otherwise everything is getting abused. If I was still young and naive, I would certainly be 'THAT dickhead'.

They're about 5 years too late. Now I can finally dislike all these ugly statusses from those couples that want to show their love to the world when nobody cares biggrin.gif

I'm not 100% opinionised on this, but maybe it'll just take some getting used to. I have always admired the simplicity of just a like button and it's possible that a dislike button will just be abused. Only time will tell I guess!

It'd make sense for those status that are sad and you want to show 'support' but hitting Like feels a bit like schadenfreude

People are talking like the "like" button hasn't been abused? tongue.gif Of course, people will naturally be a bit enthusiastic at first but people will soon get used to it. I just hope there's not a load of sob stories about people feeling 'depressed' because someone disliked their status.

I'm personally happy about this. As Tim touched on, there's a lot of crap that I wish I could dislike when trolling through Facebook so this will make it a little more fun! biggrin.gif

The dislike button is long overdue! They've definitely taken a while to introduce it.

I hope for this that it isn't something that actually says 'dislike', something called 'support' would do just fine. Which is what I suspect this is, and they're using the long struggle for a dislike button (as in one that says you disagree with what's posted, as an opposite to the like button) to whip up a bit of hype when it won't be something that straight.

You know... A good deal of what makes Buzzjack so great is how it's barely changed.

Personally, I think we should work on being able to embed videos from all major social media platforms, before anything. Copyrighttube is slightly ruining my life. Never gotten the point in a dislike button, discuss why you dislike a post... Don't just click a button. I just feel like it further discourages the idea of discussion.

I'm not in favour of a dislike button.

I think this is only going to encourage cyber bullying further and will ruin peoples confidence as you will get a lot of trolls disliking this for the sake of it.

While I understand the intention of this feature is to bring about more empathy, such as eradicating the uncomfortableness of 'liking' rather unhappy events by bringing about another option, I can only see this resulting in trolling. 'Dislike' is just a huge can of worms and probably not the best word to implement - maybe 'support' as Iz says if empathy is what they're after.
