According to a Cypriot poster on ESC Forum who has been correct with rumours in the past, CyBC have abandoned the previous plan to run the lengthy Cypriot Song Project competition as used last year in favour of an internal selection. This poster says that CyBC's top choice at the moment is "a name famous in Greece and Cyprus", a female, took part in ESC Forum's nation song contest, is from the poster's home town and that "the composer has been in ESC several times".
This has lead to the rumour that the female in question is Valando Tryfonos who has been rumoured for quite a few years now, and took part in the 2011 Greek National Final if I remember correctly with the fabulous 'The Time Is Now'. A previous rumour from this poster suggests that the composer could be Dimitris Kontopoulos, most well known for producing the likes of 'Shady Lady', 'This Is Our Night' and 'Hold Me'. If these rumours did turn out to be true, then it sounds like quite a combination - we shall wait and see what my joint-favourite Eurovision country have up their sleeves after reaching the final this year. |

Cyprus may well be potentially Iz's favourite next year, as rock band Minus One have been internally selected to represent Cyprus. They already competed in this year's selection with 'Shine'.
It may not be all bad news for Ivi Adamou stans though, as Thomas G:son has been confirmed as the songwriter. |

I read the rumours about this a couple of days ago, bit of a disappointing choice really considering they finished last in the televote in the 2015 selection final. However the involvement of G:son has lifted my hopes somewhat, is it too much to hope for something along the lines of 'Tell The World I'm Here' or 'New Tomorrow' - probably yes.

Heh, I'm interested. I'm going to be cautious though, Cyprus often need a lot of work for me.
Guys, at least it won't be a ballad. (probably, they really don't look like the sort of band who'd do a dirge) |

Minus One are currently in Sweden in the studio with G:son recording their entry, we are to expect it to be released by mid-February!

Title has been revealed as 'Alter Ego' with a few promo photos. Looks and sounds quite promising actually, I have faith that we could get a nice pop-rock number here maybe in the style of Coldplay.

Very pleasantly surprised by that! It's rock but very accessible with obvious pop elements, powerful chorus and certain to fill the Globe Arena in May! Very professional package overall! And if that isn't a certain top 5 in Iz's rankings by mid-March I'll be in shock.

Also, you're not surprised at this but, AMAZING EUROVISION HAS STARTED. *.* |

I've been mostly starved of it the last couple of years and what we have had has been along the softer alt rock or more ballady side.
I think this is the most out and out Eurovision hard rock anthem since maNga. |

HOWLING FOR YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU
This is already better than a vast majority of last year and I wouldn't be surprised if it overtakes my favourites in time. Like, Georgia is good because it's quite experimental and interesting to listen to but in comparison this just fills me with so much JOY |

After reading other forums I've finally realised what the chorus reminds me of, 'Till The World Ends' by Britney! Really liking this and it's getting a very positive reaction from fans, and the bookmakers are already responding with Cyprus as short as 10/1 in places - bit of an overreaction as it isn't going to win.
