(There probably is a thread on this somewhere but couldn't find one so decided to make one!)

What songs make you cry all the time? Why? What songs do you find so beautiful and emotional you can't resist having a sob to them?
I've decided to post this thread because after not crying at a song for a while, I've blubbed my eyes out to at least 3 songs this week (Secret Love Song, Secret Love Song Pt II and Half The World Away though in the latter's case it was more because of the advert!). I also usually cry to Because Of You- Kelly Clarkson and Someone Like You- Adele as both songs are so beautiful with heartbreaking lyrics heart.gif
Which songs make you cry?

I was thinking about this the other day because there's one song this year that gets me very close to crying everytime I hear it and, perhaps surprisingly, it's Ed Sheeran's 'Photograph'. I think it's very much helped by the video but I interpret my own meaning for it which holds close to the heart </3

It might be the videos that use the songs a lot but songs like the one with the "if I lay here, if I just lay here..." I feel quite sad (but I don't think I've actually cried at a song).

Off topic but recently I've almost started crying at the stupidest movie/TV show moments. Specifically, a couple of Doctor Who endings where the scene in question isn't actually emotional enough to be crying at... mellow.gif

Well, I'm now dead inside so I don't cry to music very often anymore. sleep.gif

When it was first released, Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol used to have me in bits. (Me and my bestie at the time cried in a nightclub when they played it as the last song, she had just miscarried, totally heart breaking and will never forget that moment.)

Also,
I'm With You - Avril Lavigne.
I Cried For You - Katie Melua.
Hope There's Someone - Anthony And The Johnsons.

All Star from Shrek

One that never fails is Fix You by Coldplay, I cry at a lot of songs tbh but not always the same ones, it just depends on my mood, what I'm going through at the time, how I'm feeling etc like one day a song that I've listened to a million times before and never shed a tear over can just hit me like a ton of bricks (usually because lyrically it has become so relevant to a current situation or something) and turn me into an emotional wreck laugh.gif Will not go into much more detail than that kink.gif

There's not so many songs what make me cry when I listen to them again, but there's a few songs I remember I cried too when I first listened.

When I first heard Gaga perform "Gypsy" on that live stream I was a mess- I thought the lyrics and her acoustic version was just so beautiful biggrin.gif I really vividly remember messaging my friend and we were both in tears over it (a lot of YAAAAAAAS GAGAGAGA's were also shared)
I also cried the first time I heard "Ride" by Lana, pretty much for the same reasons as above, I found the song so beautiful.

However, I can sometimes find myself a bit emotional watching live performances for some reason laugh.gif The other day I watched Lorde sing Ribs at (Rock im Rio?) and found myself crying over that, particularly with the little speeches she does before performing it. When I saw Lana live inrl I cried when she performed Video Games and Ride biggrin.gif

OH and In My Place - Coldplay used to make me BAWL.

And Keane - Bad Dream (ALTHOUGH this was mostly because it was placed in the background of one of the most heart breaking TV moments on Scrubs) cry.gif

That would be Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol.

There are a few songs I ALWAYS cry at due to upsetting memories attached to them ('Adagio For Strings' or 'I Won't Forget You' by Jim Reeves - the latter in particular makes me bawl thinking of my great grandma) though there are some that have been so powerful I cried just listening to them by themselves, such as the already mentioned 'Breathe Me' by Sia.

It's usually unsettling topics told in a captivating way that really get to me. I get emotional quite a lot when listening to music!

Songs that I actually cried to:

Toni Braxton - Unbreak My Heart laugh.gif
Kanye West - Bad News (yes, really... blame the strings)
Twarres - Wr Bisto - that opening line is so sad.

and more that i'll probably think of later.

I love the song, but Ready For Your Love by Gorgon City/MNEK makes me feel emotional. First song I discovered after my grandad died.

Wouldn't say I cry when I hear it though.

My friend's son died in 2014 and at the memorial serve a few months ago - his mother had this song played and I found it really hard to hold back the tears. I'd never heard the song before but it was just instantly brilliant.

There were a couple of songs I literally would skip because it reminded me of my gran when she died for the first few months. Let Her Go - Passenger and Afire Love - Ed Sheeran were the main two. Afire Love especially because of the first verse I could never listen to it all cry.gif

I can now though biggrin.gif
