Sorry to sound schmaltzy / keep going on but for OBVIOUS REASONS to anyone who's been paying attention to the Lounge this week I've been in an enormously (and often a bit overwhelmingly) good mood for the last couple of days. I haven't exactly been constantly miserable prior to now but I think I can pretty comfortably say right now is about the happiest I've ever felt with my life - just the feeling of knowing someone outside my family actually cares for me so much, which I'm not really used to especially after the past couple of years since I drifted from my closest friends at the start of sixth form and kind of became nearly totally isolated outside the Internet ph34r.gif (oh wait this is a positive thread so let me shut up about that). High hopes for the rest of January to continue being the best month of my life - if a few pesky exams don't get in the way of that oops - and hopefully for the rest of 2016 to generally be a big positive for me as well.

Prior to this~ the happiest time of my life was probably during the 2012 Olympics because A) the Olympics are always HEAVEN for a massive stats geek like myself lol, and B) it felt like for those 2 weeks everyone in the country was united and proud for once, we did a brilliant job as hosts. And the fact we did pretty well in the sports was also pretty cool. It was a fantastic opportunity to be able to attend some Paralympic sporting events too, in likely the only time within my lifetime that I'd be able to within my own country at least.

I know most people probably won't be as lucky as I am to say RIGHT NOW but nonetheless let us spread some sunshine and rainbows in the Lounge today with some reminiscing of the best times in our lives, be they for ~personal~ reasons or silly geeky reasons like that second paragraph, if anyone else is as sad and pathetic as I am/have been kink.gif

I have way too many of these. Maybe that's why my Patronus is always ready.

Definitely times during the past couple of years and the present (excluding last August which was rather miserable due to health issues). My time since leaving school has generally been great and continuous frames of time I'd highlight are times with family, holidays abroad and the week I spent on the French exchange in year 9.

Various concerts have been the happiest two hour periods of my life, particularly the 1989 tour in June which was magical.

for some reason I have 2006 as being quite a happy time in my life even though I know I'm probably only looking at it through rose tinted glasses. In my mind it was sunny every day and the music was great. It was the time I really started going off and doing my own thing and liking my own stuff without the old peer pressure.

2015 was for me. I probably speak too much about it but Cape Town was such a magical experience and I learnt so much about myself, it really opened my eyes and I loved every second of it.

I have had other really good times at university, when I have been in Manchester and when I first got with my boyfriend as well. I'm still happy now, but more like I'm just content really. I think 2016 will be a good year, I plan to move back to Manchester and I have a lot planned this year as well.

not gonna say the years, but being 11 to 13 was magical, I lived in tropical Singapore and everything was colourful and exciting and the only minor worries were homework and school exams. Pop music, comics, TV, movies and sunshine...

College years were next, great socialising, going abroad on field trips, pop, discos, parties, sports and games playing, Artwork creating, creative writing, photogrpahy, more socialising, TV, films, more pop, and the main downsides were having to work in factories to get cash, family problems, exams and coursework. Best 3 years of my life. cheer.gif

Everything since then has been an anti-climax, with good and bad times coexisting mostly, but as you get older there are more bad times more often. If life is ticking along in a pleasant rut, that's fab. I don't do rose-tinted glasses, they end up getting scratched and broken laugh.gif

(Loving the activity in the Lounge!!!)

I could probably think of several things here, but I remember telling my sister recently that the times during our childhood when we would go to our Dad's workplace several times a week and hang out there were the happiest times of my life. I didn't always have a childhood filled with nothing but rainbows etc, and it was probably an ~emotional rollercoaster~ in some ways, but it wasn't horrible and the times that were good were really good. My Dad worked with computers and we didn't have a computer at home so we would go there to discover the joys of computer games (which I'm not into anymore lol) and we really kinda had the time of our lives, geeky as it sounds. It wasn't just the games of course lmao. It was just like "our place" and in my mind it is one of the things that kinda symbolizes my childhood. Often we would bring others along and just hang out, chat etc. I remember that little room so well. omg nostalgia overload!!!!11

There were other especially fun times too during my childhood, of course, that I could put here. My family is friends with this other family who I've known ever since I was born, and we would go to each other's houses every summer when I was a kid, sit around a bonfire, chat, run around, laugh, go swimming, make stupid videos, make up silly TV shows etc. OMG it's so weird thinking and writing about it now laugh.gif

I guess my go-to answer is the middle of 2012 right to the end. It started with one of the best holidays I can remember, went on with school finishing, leading into a lovely summer with Olympics (yay stats) and hot weather and just enjoyable times, all the while preparing for the next big stage of my life, uni, and that started really well.

Thing is, most of my life has been a mix of good things and bad things, I've just been good at rising above the latter and not letting them affect me so much. Like, ever since graduating I've had hardly any bad things happen to me so that's excellent really but at the same time there haven't been enough things to stand out to make it good. Hopefully something or somebody will come along to change that soon. In a good way.

Summer 2013 for me. Turned 18, left school, achieved high A Level results, passed my driving test, got my current job at Aldi, started clubbing regularly, had a mental lad's holiday in Kavos, lost virginity on said holiday. A real hot July that year too and the music that soundtracked it gets better with age. Songs like Antenna, Can't Hold Us, La La La, Waiting All Night, Blackout, Soundbwoy, Love Me Again & Blurred Lines. All in all, a sense that anything was possible and life was just starting to begin.

Got a feeling that 2016 will be the best yet though!

I can pretty much emulate the opening post. Right now is also the happiest time of my life, I've never had someone make me feel so content. Previous relationships have all been messT and with friends I've always felt second best at most, so to have someone that also cares so much for me is such a wonderful thing, cannot believe how well things have worked out. <3

Prior to this I think the happiest I'd previously felt was from about April - December 2014 when I had a string of good achievements - I had a blog at the time which was doing really well, I took part in NCS which put me out my comfort zone extremely but was so worth it, this led me to then volunteer for a while in a charity shop which was super rewarding, then I did much better than I was expecting in my AS exams and finally got my dream first ever job. That was a really weird but cool time when lots of good things were happening.

No teeth? ;o Now you will be suitable to meet your celeb crush Jeremy Kyle, as that's pretty much the only requirement to get on that show. x

2006 and 2011 overall, though many years have had flashes of extreme brilliance and utter crap.

2006 was AMAZING, that glorious summer full of incredible female pop yasss. But really I was just happy the whole time and was loving life and my 1st/2nd year of uni, it all seemed very positive.

2011 I was living in North Wales and only working two days a week for a lot of the time so had loads of free time and money saved from a few years beforehand, lots of new places and a car at the time too. I genuinely enjoyed waking up each day and feeling like I could experience something new and interesting each day.

Fingers crossed for 2016 then if this is a 'once every five years' sort of thing!

2013 was probably my favourite year! Especially the summer after my GCSES heart.gif Old enough to go out and do cool things and get illegally drunk yet without any of the responsibilities or worries of being an adult!

I'd probably say 2009 and 2011 through to 2012, the former was when I finished school with good GCSEs, had a wide circle of friends, started college in a course I enjoyed and went on a month long holiday to the States which was amazing, there was very little cause to worry. Likewise 2011, I started my first year of uni which again I really enjoyed and moved away from home for the first time which went on to be an amazing experience and I made some great friends and was still close with friends back home, and that carried on in the summer with working and volunteering at the Olympics, definitely one of the best experiences of my life.

The latter half of 2014 was quite good too when I started my Masters and went to Australia was also a really good one. Honestly, I've had plenty of happy times over the past few years, but it's been a while since I've been truly happy, I think my problem is that I find it hard to be a 100% happy as there's always SOMETHING I'm a bit worried about in the future that I sometimes find it hard to enjoy the moment and don't realise how happy I was until I look back. That seems a bit sad, I'm not always totally melancholy or anything! It's just the way my mind works I guess. I always try to envision the best of the future and work towards it though (particularly this year, 2016 is the year of the monkey which is my zodiac animal, high hopes cool.gif )

I genuinely think the happiest time of my life was last year's summer holiday I went on though of course even that had its ups and downs. Especially when the before and after were quite awful with the realisation of me doing poorly in my AS levels. The airport at the end of the holiday before I got on the first plane back was particularly emotional. sob.gif

Also I really think that's as good as it's gonna get, for at least a long while anyway especially with uni and real life happening soon (starting university this year mellow.gif mellow.gif mellow.gif)

I forgot about meeting Delta last year and seeing her live twice in the space of three days *.* That still feels like something of an out of body experience though...I was having a normal everyday conversation with my idol...I still can't even process that. I never usually care about meeting famous people but when somebody has had that much of an impact on your life, it's such an odd feeling.

Thinking about blogs doing well, I was sooooo happy when Sheppard and The Common Linnets both retweeted and commented on my gig reviews in 2014 and my blog managed 5,000 hits a day at its peak, those numbers I could have only ever dreamed of before! Even now in my journalism job the news stories I write only get like 500-4,000 hits online on average (but a further 8,000 see them in print).
