Totally unexpected and shocking. I knew he had heart troubles previously and looked frail but an "oh my god" blow to me. In the hyperbole media world where everyone who's been around 10 years is a "legend" David Bowie was an actual Legend of music.

One of my heroes and an astonishing body of work. Gutted.

I still can't get over it, it feels like I'm dreaming it. I have to agree his iconic status is just remarkable.

Indeed - in June 2013 I went to see the David Bowie exhibition at the V&A, which was brilliant and inspiring. Before going I didn't realise just how much a creative force he truly was.

Yes, I went to see that too and it was such a great tribute to him.

He has so many varied and honestly great tracks in his back catalogue too, nobody else comes close for me. Not to mention the impact he had on acceptance of individuality and challenging of male stereotypes in this country.
