Started by a debate in the iTunes thread, do we think 25 will eventually outsell 21 or not? I think it's definitely possible.

The way it's slowed down in the last couple of weeks (even more than I would have expected from the usual new year slump), I very much doubt it.

I don't think it'll outsell 21 in the UK, but I think it'll outsell it worldwide. Especially considering its current US sales stand at ~7.5 million vs 11.3 million for 21. I can see it selling 12-15 million in the US alone or possibly even more with subsequent single releases and promotion - not to mention the 2017 grammys coming up.
It's already sold over 15 million copies worldwide - in just 8 weeks. Sure it's slowed down quite a bit but we've yet to get a proper push for a second single. |

highly unlikely in the UK
possibly worldwide but I'd still be tempted to say no. it should outsell 21 in the US though which is something |

Absolutely not.
It will hopefully reach 3 million in the U.K but there is no chance it will outsell 21 basically anywhere. |

I doubt it will match the sales of 21 in the UK but globally it might sell more overall.

21's almost at 5 million - 25's almost at 2.7 million. I don't see it happening TBH

It has to sell double its current total (2.5m+) to outsell 21 in the UK.
It has to sell double its current total (15m+) to outsell 21 Worldwide. I think both are very unlikely. However, I do think it will end up as the 2nd biggest selling album of the millennium in the UK, behind 21. 3.7m is required for that. |

If she hits big with another single perhaps sales will take off again...considering there were people out there to buy 21 then there are still people to buy 25. Of course they may just stream it instead.

No, but I think it might skim past 4 million which in itself is way more than I could have anticipated for it.
Worldwide: possibly, I could feasibly see it happening in the US at this stage. This post has been edited by mr_pmt: 14th January 2016, 10:31 PM |

I can see it doing 4 million. It will remain in the Top 10 for most, if not all of the year. But it will probably fall short of 21.

I think this will come close to matching '21' - We are only 1 single into the campaign and she is supporting the release with a world tour which will boost sales - Also lots of events coming up Brits, Grammys, Valentine's, Mothers Day etc, to keep sales ticking

21 is the album that made Adele, it is still selling and it is better than 25. I think 21 will always be Adele's biggest seller, not that it really matters. I don't think she will be too bothered either way!

With a Brit awards performance and several more singles to come, you think there's a chance this won't be able to shift another 500k copies. This is Adele we're talking about. |

I hope not and I think not.
21 had three huge hits on it and 25 I honestly can't see any song being as big as 'Hello' or the 3 huge songs from 21. I think 25 sales are extremely heavily frontloaded. |
