His heart ached with love

Another double elimination and another TIE. In 'The Enormous Crocodile' Dahl tells a fable of sorts, where a crocodile ventures to kill and eat childen, but his plans are repeatedly thwarted by the jungle animals and he eventually meets his maker as he's thrust into the sun and killed himself. One of his more tame stories~ It's certainly not one of his most well-known ones and one I have never really got into as much as the others.

Also leaving is the delightful love story of Mr Hoppy and Mrs Silver. It tales the tale of Hoppy's devotion to impressing his admired lady and the sheer amount of trouble he goes to to keep her happy and impress her. The title obviously refers to "tortoise" backwards and is part of the ~magic~ that Mr Hoppy applies onto Mrs Silver's pet which eventually leads to a much warranted happy ending. Filled with warmth and love, it was recently retold as part of a BBC TV series over Christmas last year. I think this is (much like many of the classics) one that continues to be magical well into readers' adulthood.

The next round will be the first SINGLE elimination as we enter the all important TOP 10? Deadline: Sunday 7th February

Danny, The Champion of the World, again. I re-read some of it on Wednesday and it did bring back some fond memories, but I am still selecting it, with a heavy heart. The others are all just so close to the heart of my childhood.

Charlie & The Great Glass Elevator. Don't remember reading it~

Sad for The Enormous Crocodile and Esio Trot sad.gif Two wonderful tales (the former was simple, but still great for my younger self).
