Following on from the swearing thread, how do you feel about the word "bitch"?

Song titles Madonna, Rihanna and Britney have featured the word in the past 5 years so it's become a term that has become more acceptable. I'm not against the word, by any means I just see its place changing in culture.

Do you use it with your friends? Do you use it when you want what your saying to have a certain attitude? Do you use it online? Would you prefer for it not to be used so much?

Bitch Means Female dog so I dont think its offensive to be used within songs per say maybe the context can differ possibly

I don't really mind it, I might use it occasionally to shade someone kink.gif

As for its presence in songs, it would again depend on the context.

It can be used in a playful tongue and cheek way, but can also be quite offensive depending on how it's used.

It's WAY too overused these days in songs/online culture, so much so that I cringe at it, especially if it's someone referring to themselves making them sound 'edgy'.

Too tame for what? Too tame to be used a derogatory term? Then why is Britney so fascinated with it, in particular?

Given the casual use of "nigger" in a lot of rap songs, I'd be surprised if anyone was that shocked by the use of "bitch" in a song!

In regards to the Madonna and Britney songs that use the word "bitch", it's being used as an 'empowering' noun, so it's just another example of how meanings to words alter in time.

bitch is such a weak insult.

If anybody gets offended to being called a bitch then they need a reality check.

The only time i use the term "bitch" is if i say "he/she is such a bitch" for people who gossip x

I use it so much when talking to online friends, usually in good humour and not as an insult though laugh.gif I don't use it with my friends outside of the internet though or if i do it's to describe someone i really dislike so it's not something i say all that often.

Well, if I said it to be friends they wouldn't think anything of it, but if I said 'Shut up, you bitch' to my mother, for instance, she would not be pleased.

They are empowering the other person referring to them as a bitch? Or are they empowering themselves?

I wouldn't generally use to refer to my friends, but some of my friends will use the C word to refer to each other, and me, sometimes, in a lighthearted way. That's a word I would never use.
