After the tragic loss of one of the biggest musical icons of all time, we can expect to see lots of re-entries from Prince this week, particularly within the album charts. Katy B also releases her third studio album 'Honey', which should still see her with a third top 10 album, even among all the Price entries. And then we should also expect a top 3 entry from Welsh classical songstress Katherine Jenkins.

No big new releases in the singles chart, but we could see lots of climbers or top 40 entries including Nick Jonas, Little Mix, Cheat Codes and Galantis.

Breakdown of the week
- Saturday and Sunday: Information on Twitter from MintRoyale only. Please do not make requests, we do not have any information other than what's posted.
- Monday: OCC Top 100 + Radio 1 Chart Update 5:30pm to 5:45pm.
- Tuesday: Top 40 update as and when we receive them with requests, this is NOT 100% guaranteed however. The OCC may publish sales flashes of their own accord but likewise, this is not guaranteed. Twitter and social media is your friend for today. Please post any information you find with a source. Do not nag for updates, we will post a top 40 update if we receive one.
- Wednesday: Top 40 update from Music Week from 5:45, and potential top 5 sales but this is not guaranteed.
- Thursday: See Tuesday.

Other notes (please read)
- You may make requests Tuesday to Thursday but outside the top 40, specific positions will not be revealed (unless deemed necessary by a mod).
- Please do not demand a midweek update, one will be posted as and when we receive the information. Patience is a virtue.
- Sales information will be given out as deemed necessary by a moderator, please bear this in mind when making requests. Most requests for sales will be ignored.
- To keep everyone in the loop of all chart action, please refer to the iTunes and Spotify threads.

Prince will chart high but streaming will prevent him from reaching no1 - I'm going to say no3 for purple rain in first midweeks.

According to Mint Royale, Prince has 5 albums in the Top 6, with Katherine Jenkins at #4, and 13 albums in the Top 40. He also has 17 songs (!) in the singles Top 40, occupying the Top 2 (and 4 more in the Top 10). Obviously others will push him down a bit but that's a great start!

Judging by that, it looks like we could see 6 Prince songs top 40..

However DJ Fresh once got to 8 in a Saturday update and didn't manage top 40 in the end.. heehee.gif

I really wish for this one week only streaming wasn't included sad.gif what a brilliant prospect this week Chart's Show would have been.

All I really want is for Purple Rain to remain top 10 but I can see it going the way of Ace Of Spades & Heroes.

I assume it's #1 Purple Rain and #2 When Doves Cry... but we know it doesn't include Friday streaming so guess in reality Drake is well ahead considering he broke the record for most streams in a day yesterday on Spotify

I take Saturday mids with a pinch of salt, Little Mix were almost #4 last saturday but ended at #31 officially, and they even had some streaming. I doubt Prince will make the top 10, singles wise.

Purple Rain has 3 versions in iTunes top 20 though. No doubt those will sell at least 50k put together.

Early sales figures from the Official Charts Company indicate that Prince may be on course to claim a double Number 1, with classics from the late icon’s catalogue flooding early versions of the Official Singles and Albums Charts after 24 hours.

News broke on Thursday evening of the untimely passing of 57-year-old music legend Prince Rogers Nelson at his Paisley Park estate in Minneapolis, and since then music fans of Britain have paid tribute to the star by purchasing a host of his classic hit singles, albums and Best Of collections.

Based on one day's data (comprising Friday sales up to midnight last night, but with no streams yet counted), Prince’s 1984 signature anthem Purple Rain has claimed a strong early lead in the Official Singles Chart race. The early rankings show Prince occupying four of the Top 5 slots with When Doves Cry (2), Kiss (4) and 1999 (5). Current chart topper Drake’s One Dance ft. Wizkid & Kyla is at Number 3 in the early rundown.

With the majority of Prince’s catalogue unavailable on most streaming services, the addition of streaming data through the course of the week is likely to affect the overall picture. But Purple Rain is a clear early contender for the Number 1 spot - and if it does hold on through to Friday, it would be a new peak for the track (which previously reached Number 8 on its original release in 1984) and would provide Prince with his second UK Number 1 single.

A similar picture is also emerging in early album sales bulletins - initial numbers (again, sales only) show Prince records securing 50% of the Official Albums Chart Top 10 after 24 hours of data has been counted. His biggest titles are The Very Best Of (currently on course for Number 1), Ultimate (2) the Grammy Award-winning official soundtrack to the movie Purple Rain (3), The Hits/The B-Sides (5) and Sign O’ The Times (6). If Prince maintains this form, The Very Best Of would be Prince’s sixth Number 1 album in the UK

It's great that Prince is doing so well, but surely OCC shouldn't do these misleading reports when half the data is missing...

No streaming data is included in the first midweek indications so Prince will surely drop in the singles chart as the week progresses...
