I must've had a dozen calls from them over the past several days - I wish they'd realise I know it is a scam, and give up!! sad.gif

If only I could program my answering machine to respond to their number by saying something like 'You have reached the cyber-crime office - your call has been traced, and the police are on their way'

Just imagine them sh*tting themselves as they drop the phone & run! laugh.gif

I would love to do that when my voice becomes more convincing of someone with decent authority heehee.gif

I saw a YouTube video about what you mentioned, its well worth a watch and the scammer got what he deserved~

The best thing you can do (apart from the above video obviously) when you get these calls is to string them along as long as possible, just so it keeps them from calling someone else who might be likely to fall for it.

My dad got fooled by crooks pretenfing to be microsoft and lost money. Now they still ring to try to fool him again so i just put thephone down. Stringing them along just uses up time i dont have spare. So i heartily approve of others doing that for me, thanks! yahoo.gif

I always answer the phone in Welsh and pretend I can't speak English.

I seem to get two or three of these calls a day so now always keep some awful novelty record open in a tab all day so that I can just press play and hold the speaker up to my phone as soon as I answer.

I do that. Kept one on nearly an hour and in that time never had my PC on even!!! Asked for him to hang on when I went to the loo or made a coffee. Was hilarious. He swore at me when I told him he'd been had! Told him I kept getting pop-ups of women in underwear and could he fix that so they were naked. LMAO. He said he'd "look in to that problem" yahoo.gif

I rarely answer my landline unless i recognise the number, anybody who needs to call me knows to call my mobile. I've had a few strange phone calls on there though so i just block the numbers when they come through.

My dad is always playing along with scam callers though (maybe he needs to get out more laugh.gif ). I remember once he said he would go and get the 'main householder' and got the cat to 'talk' on the phone by putting the phone near the cat, and giving the cat treats so it would meow a lot laugh.gif
