With everything beginning to kick off the campaigns officially underway, I thought it would be nice for a good old BuzzJack poll, seeing as this will dominate the news for the next 4-6 weeks!

Obvs~

I'm very hopeful that there'll be enough status quo voters that that will happen (though quite a few people I know are voting 'Leave' sad.gif). I see no reason to leave and think the positives membership provides outweigh the negatives. It scares me a bit that in two months time we could officially have left :x

Just to coincide with that voting thread posted last week, this is something EVERYONE in the UK should vote in whether you're interested in politics or not, so I hope none of you are planning to abstain ;o

Stay. It's better to be driving reform from the inside than sitting in the cold while our economy falls apart.

Stay ofc.

There was some sort of internal poll by the Students' Union here a couple of weeks ago and 'stay' won with 88% of the vote. Yay ~

Voting to stay without a question! To whoever chose "I will not be voting", if you're a UK citizen there really isn't any excuse not to vote, please read the thread I made on voting last week, I'm planning also on writing a post for that thread with reasons why people specifically should vote in this referendum!

Thank god I'm not voting eligible for a few months - I'm so out of the loop and would feel it wrong to devote to a choice I don't even know about.

oh and shouldn't this be moved to the news and politics section??

I think it's nice to have some politics threads in the lounge, as the news and politics forum is a place not a huge amount of people from the lounge go to. Like Rooney said in his opening post, it's a huge topic at the moment, so I don't see the problem with having more discussion here !

So many threads that can also fit in other forums find themselves in the lounge. In short I agree with Lotti's above post biggrin.gif

I think the ability to move threads feature mods can do is also used so that a link to a thread appears in multiple forums. I think for example there's a Sales thread that is always created in the UK Charts and then moved to Sales?

Definitely Stay. Work from within and from my point of view it's actually not that broken ANYWAY, just a little byzantine.

We always have light politics threads in the Lounge as the line of where something becomes politics is rather blurry. Politics threads in the Lounge are to catch the eye of people who aren't always into politics. That forum tends to be for threads that wouldn't get any attention here (policies, less notable international news) and so the politics geeks have a space to argue the finer points. The whole big General Election night threads are always held here for example. I've been moderating that line for years now, I know what belongs here and there.

On a side note - currently Exeter Uni is holding an In-Out referendum on the NUS and the parallels between both In-Out campaigns have been amusing me lately. Leaving would be advantageous only in the 'we're going it alone' mantra (which is to say, not), all the benefits currently gained would be lost and it's much better to work to change from within. Naturally I voted to stay on the micro level too, most of the 'Exiter' manson.gif gripe seems to be on the new left-leaning Muslim woman president who's suffered from the 'Corbyn/McDonnell' syndrome of having some old words (on ISIS) misrepresented to look overly liberal.
