Half way thru the year and we only had 5 new #1s, Drake could be heading for a 13th week "sigh", when will it ever change, Bryan Adams need to keep his hat on, as Drake is coming for it, or will the duck be cooked by Kungs by climbing up a place or will Drake replace himself with Too Good. Rihanna should appear as a new entry with 'Sledgehammer' and Fergie with 'M.I.L.F.$' and I can see the latter struggling to get near the top 40 by the end of the week. On that note nothing else is happening, unless Major Lazer quickly releases his new track with MŘ and Justin Bieber. Blink 182 are set to enter the album chart at #1 with their brand new studio album 'California' and probably Bat For Lashes 'The Bride' to enter inside the top 10. Other new albums from Metronomy, Grace, Delta Goodrem, Snoop Dogg and Blood Orange. Breakdown of the week - Saturday and Sunday: Information on Twitter from MintRoyale only. Please do not make requests, we do not have any information other than what's posted. - Monday: OCC Top 100 + Radio 1 Chart Update 5:30pm to 5:45pm. - Tuesday: Top 40 update as and when we receive them with requests, this is NOT 100% guaranteed however. The OCC may publish sales flashes of their own accord but likewise, this is not guaranteed. Twitter and social media is your friend for today. Please post any information you find with a source. Do not nag for updates, we will post a top 40 update if we receive one. - Wednesday: Top 40 update from Music Week from 5:45, and potential top 5 sales but this is not guaranteed. - Thursday: See Tuesday. Other notes (please read) - You may make requests Tuesday to Thursday but outside the top 40, specific positions will not be revealed (unless deemed necessary by a mod). - Please do not demand a midweek update, one will be posted as and when we receive the information. Patience is a virtue. - Sales information will be given out as deemed necessary by a moderator, please bear this in mind when making requests. Most requests for sales will be ignored. - To keep everyone in the loop of all chart action, please refer to the iTunes and Spotify threads. |

I suspect Drake will make a 13th week at no1 given there is a lack of new releases/challengers.

@MintRoyale
Drake is still at number 1. He's been number one for over 20% of a year. This is getting tedious. |

Bieber's cold water is due to come out this month, might be a challenger, if the target is only 55-60k.

With how low sales are at the moment, Cold Water should definitely smash in at number one. Not out for another two weeks though so that'll be 14 consecutive weeks for Drake at #1 in total

I think the hook is fantastic! It's not a repetitive song at all but I don't think anyone can say it lacks catchiness or hooks |

Maybe Olly Murs could snatch if off Drake? That would be lovely indeed if 'You Don't Know Love' did it next week but even as a big Olly fan I don't see it happening, it didn't happen with 'Kiss Me' although that came out at a much busier time of year, so... Unless he releases the video at the same time I don't really see it happening. Would be very lovely if it did though. I prefer watching the album charts more these days to be honest. So much more excitement and movement and wider variety of artists. I do agree though that Drake's time spent at number one thus far is completely disproportionate. It's not even that memorable. At least Wet Wet Wet and Bryan Adams were, even if they got irritating after the 14th week! |

Really? I think the hook is fantastic! It's not a repetitive song at all but I don't think anyone can say it lacks catchiness or hooks I'd say it was very repetitive; it sounds very similar the whole way through due to the lack of chorus. Not to say it's not catchy - I can definitely see why one would think that on first listen, but it's very much a song that slowly gets under your skin and I know I certainly can't help bopping along when that beat starts. I always think of this Bugs Bunny video whenever I hear the song because this is exactly how it feel like! It still feels odd that it's had a monster run at #1 though. As people have said times before, it's had barely any cultural impact or at least not enough to warrant such a chart run, nor does the song feel "big" in the way others have; it's just sort of there and you only realise that you like it when you hear it. |

To compare it to Wet Wet Wet though, that was a cover after all and not that huge part of popular culture globally (failed to reach top 40 in the US for example) so from those two I'd prefer One Dance. But I agree from my point of view Everything I Do was way bigger phenomenon than One Dance is now.
