Róisín Murphy releases her fourth solo album this Friday. It follows last year's rather excellent (in my opinion, at least) Mercury-nominated 'Hairless Toys', which was her first proper release in almost 8 years, so thankfully we haven't had to wait anywhere near as long for this new record.

1. Mastermind
2. Pretty Gardens
3. Thoughts Wasted
4. Lip Service
5. Ten Miles High
6. Whatever
7. Romantic Comedy
8. Nervous Sleep
9. Sitting and Counting

Is it the same Roisin Murphy that was in Moloko? Moloko were like the Clean Bandit of the early 2000s - much similarity with CB in this classic record with the orchestral influence.

I don't think it's that bad tbh, but then again it's hardly as great as the artwork from the 'Overpowered' era is it?

Still, this GIF of her is one of my favourite things at the moment...

It certainly is, though I probably should've mentioned that in the first post actually. Moloko were actually pretty good, though I personally prefer the two albums from the mid/late '90s that were released prior to their period of bigger commercial success.

If anyone needs to know what Monto is....

Monto was the nickname for the one-time red light district in Dublin, the capital of Ireland. Monto was roughly the area bounded by Talbot Street, Amiens Street, Gardiner Street and Seán McDermott Street (formerly Gloucester Street). The name is derived from Montgomery Street (now called Foley Street), which runs parallel to the lower end of Talbot Street towards what is now Connolly Station. It was immortalised as "Nighttown" in the "Circe" chapter of James Joyce's famous work, Ulysses, where the central protagonists Leopold Bloom and Stephen Dedalus together visit a brothel.

I absolutely love Ten Miles High. I'm also belatedly loving the whole of the last album. I made myself a Róisín playlist and had forgotten just how many of her tracks were just so darn good wub.gif
