trialling out a new lounge feature if that's ok. discovering new music is one of the key reasons we're all on this forum so let's get some recommendations going. any genre, any year, anyone.

so that we get the best experience out of this it would be helpful if everyone uses a format like this (and don't spam up the thread with your own recommendations, keep it to one a day):

Artist:
Song:
Year:
Genre:

Why should I give it a listen?:

Dan's Recommendation 31/08/16

Artist: Armand van Helden
Song: Wings
Year: 2016
Genre: dance, house
Audio Link:
Why should I give it a listen?: It's not a trend chasing song, it sounds like it could have been released years ago but not in a dated way, it's quite uplifting. Kind of reminds me of the looped house songs from about 10 years ago. And it's the return of legendary house producer AvH!!!

oooh I like this idea Dan! happy.gif

Artist: Panic! At The Disco
Song: Collar Full
Year: 2013
Genre: Pop-Rock???
Audio Link:

Why should I give it a listen?: Firstly, I chose it just because that's what happened to come on shuffle when I started writing this post laugh.gif It's one of my favourite Panic album tracks, it's pretty catchy, solid chorus and has great lyrics heart.gif

that one is a lot better than what I've heard from them on the radio recently ('Victorious' and 'Don't Threaten Me With A Good Time' particularly are annoying).

Artist: Alexandra Stan
Song: Set Me Free (feat. Grano)
Year: 2014
Genre: Dance-Pop/House
Audio:

Why Listen: Alexandra shows off vocally, with restrained semi-ballad that entrances you and an EDM breakdown for the ages. I'm betting danG will like this one actually.

Artist: Adam Young
Song: Georgia Boys
Year: 2016
Genre: Instrumental score/ acoustic rock
Audio:

From Adam Young's new September score, this is a really powerful instrumental track that builds into a beautiful crescendo near the end. Some amazing guitar work in here, seamlessly switching between acoustic and crunchy electric and the track nicely captures the story it's telling.

Artist: PVRIS
Song: You and I (Stripped)
Year: 2016
Genre: Rock
Audio Link:

Why should I give it a listen?: PVRIS are my faves, I'm obsessed with everything they've recorded to date. There's a good chance you've heard the standard version of You and I which is incredible but there is also this stripped back version on the deluxe edition of their White Noise album which is just so so stunning, it's been stripped back so much it's basically just the chords and Lynns voice but omg I've never heard a vocalist put as much emotion into every note the way she does, I get goosebumps every time without fail heart.gif cry.gif

Artist: The Big Moon
Song: Silent Movie Susie
Year: 2016
Genre: Alternative
Audio Link:
Why should I give it a listen?: The London female four piece has been making waves underground for the past year or so but this year saw them earn a spot at BBC Introducing stage at glastonbury, get their song 'Cupid'' playlisted on Radio 1 for the BBC Introducing track of the week and recently this track 'Silent Movie Susie' earned them a spot in In New Music We Trust playlist on Radio 1. Safe to say these ladies have a lot of hype for them in the next year.

Cody's Weekend Anthem: That's the anthem, put your damn hands up!

Artist: Feder

Song: "Lordly" (feat. Alex Aiono)

Year: 2016

Genre: Deep House

Audio Link:

Why should I give it a listen:

I will admit: I never really gave Alex Aiono a chance because I saw his name come up on Radio Disney and thought "oh great another person trying to be the next Bieber/Shawn/whatever." His "One Dance" cover was okay, but then I heard this. MY GOD WHAT A VOICE. It meshed so well with the production, it was mysterious, and it felt so much more mature than what I would expect him to bring to the table. Feder is... perfection, as always, but man, what a way to bring a new artist (let alone someone like Alex) into the radar.
