Obviously we do not know how members pronounce the name of this site, but I think the best pronunciation for the site is "boose-jack" rather than the simpler one of "Buzz-jack". Does anyone else pronounce it this way?

I've always said Buzz-Jack. It's the correct pronounciation as far as I'm aware.

I just prefer the pronounciation "Boose-jack" as it is a bit different to what it appears to be, and reflects the website itself when you investigate it laugh.gif

Buzz. Jack. Not sure how else it could be said unless you had an accent that really exaggerated the oo sound. laugh.gif

Maybe if you were foreign and trying to read the site name laugh.gif But no, I just assumed anyone who speaks English (so everyone on this site, lol) would know it's Buzzjack out of pure common sense...

Anyone who doesn't pronounce it 'Buzz' needs to take a long hard look at themselves.

It's a word made up of two words that have very specific pronunciation. How does one even have time to contemplate something this unnecessary?

Google Translate can say it differently

In French it's 'Buzz-ed Jack'
In Spanish it's 'Buzz-yarck'
In Italian it's 'Boo-jiarcke'

It's actually 'Beaujha', the c and k are entirely silent.

I don't pronounce it at all. I've always assumed the B, u, z, z, j, a, c and k are all silent smile.gif

Well the thing is, I pronounce the word "buzz" differently from the way I've heard for example Spadam say it, because we have different accents. With my Irish accent I say the U in that word similarly to the way I would pronounce the Os in the word "loon", only not long (I couldn't think of a better example), whereas Spadam says the U more like the A in the word "carpenter".

Maybe if you're severely illiterate it would be pronounced that way.

And another thing, I despise the term 'favourite pronunciation'. There should be literally no such thing.

I can't give marks to my students who use their favourite pronunciation of a word over the correct one...

I personally think there should be a silent k in the pronunciation of Buzzjack.
