At a family get together today we played a bit of Scrabble and it felt like the first time in AGES that I'd played it. That got me wondering~ do you guys still play board games (how often if yes) and what are your faves?

As I said it felt like such a rarity when we got out Scrabble today so I don't actually play them that often. BUT my all time fave is Trivial Pursuit wub.gif We tend to get that one out every Christmas and it's always so fun.

I used to play them loads as a child but I guess the internet kinda just took over for games as I grew up.

I love board games!
We used to have board game nights at uni all the time, haha.
And we all met up recently to go to a board game cafe in London :')

Scrabble, Cluedo, Articulate and Trivial Pursuit are my favourites, love playing them over Christmas with the family heart.gif

Trivial Pursuit is my absolute fave, I always love getting it out - we also only tend to do it at Christmas Jade! Although there is a bit of pressure to keep an updated one so that the questions are always new, at times I've devised new questions for the family in a similar exercise.

I'm also quite a proponent of the Game Of Thrones board game, used to play it all the time at uni. It's like a mix of Risk and Diplomacy, which are also both big favourites. I like my war games.

Scrabble is fairly good but Monopoly is the one where it feels most likely to be without end. I love board games but I don't want to spend too long in a session (it's fine going over multiple sessions as long as people remember to come back to it) and Monopoly is awful for keeping people going while simultaneously draining their will to live as they enforce reckless capitalism on each other.

I only ever play them with family either at christmas or on the occasional weekend away but they're great and I always thoroughly enjoy it when we play them. Trivial Pursuit is a favourite but I also love things like Jenga, Ker-Plunk, maybe even some Hungry Hippos or Buckaroo!

scrabble, monopoly, sorry! and life are my faves, though my actual fave when i was younger was this wizard of oz board game. i lost it years ago and i can't really remember the rules but you could play as one of the four main characters and you had green marbles (aka the emeralds) that you could use for currency or something? anyway i'm rambling but maybe i just fever dreamt it lmao.

oh and semi-related but card games are good too. apples to apples, cards against humanity, uno, and this summer i rediscovered my love of spoons.
