Do you on the whole like to be on your own or do you like being in the company of others most of the time?

I'd say I like my own company 90% of the time but I do actually like the company of others occasionally. I just personally find myself more free on my own and stuff tongue.gif I guess you could talk about the relationship side of this too. People who have been in and out of relationships: which did you prefer? Advantages and disadvantages? thinking.gif hit those reply buttons plz

I have periods where I crave company. I'll usually need to "recharge" on my own after it though.

basically are you an introvert or an extrovert wink.gif

I do like being on my own a lot and rarely feel lonely, I'm just more comfortable in my own space as I do tend to feel rather anxious and on edge when I'm socialising with people, and although I do love hanging out with friends and stuff, I can feel pretty drained after it. That's part of the reason to why I wanted to live on my own and not flat share because you're constantly going to be around someone else, at least when I come home from work, uni, a night out or whatever where I've been interacting with others, I know I can just go home, blast some music or watch a film or something without having to maintain a conversation with someone laugh.gif

I think I too prefer solitude, but when I do socialise I enjoy it.

I should add that I have a medical condition, Aspergers Syndrome, which affects social stuff at times, so I'm often alone.

I like keeping to myself a lot and maybe TOO much in fact. I just find it a lot easier (in the sense of social awkwardness) and do enjoy my own company and chilling, not having to worry about anything. I'm a pretty quiet person and just like to get on with my own business. However sometimes this can get lonely and I do find myself getting excited when plans are brought up. I am just way more of a stay at home and chill person these days rather than go out and party in general I think. I'm a 90 year old in a 19 year old's body.

There are people in this world that make me not hate human company however kink.gif So chilling irl with Bray, my family and closest friends is when I do really enjoy being with others. It's just that I've got into a routine of being by myself a LOT with so much time off Uni, so I'm feeling more used to my own company than ever. Uni coming back tomorrow will do wonders for spending more time with others again. But I'd say right now that I am used to my own company so much that I feel more comfortable like this in general.

I also suffer from Aspergers and I'm very much an introvert in every sense of the word and am more than happy with my own company for a long time, it's just the way I am. I do have a family I can talk to and see friends for social occasions every so often (as long as I can recharge afterwards) though if just so I have someone to go to, as even I can admit, human contact is quite essential in life!

Of course, training to be a teacher, I am going to be tested in this quite a lot over the next year, but I'm hoping that can be for the better.

Very alone. I tend get an itch to get myself a bit of space of alone time, even when I'm with people I like and love. I'm really genuinely happy being alone and it feels so comforting to be on my own, I could do it for weeks if I had the opportunity.

I'm totally fine being with people, just not for too long and definitely not constant conversation, especially if there's no route for me to get some space where no one is talking to me for a few minutes (at most if I just lose myself in thought for a short while I'm fine to continue) - this tends to explain why I'm quite quiet at social gatherings.

I much prefer to be on my own, I was out on Saturday at the pet show in Manchester and it was really busy, today I had a 'people hangover'. I don't mind spending time with my bf of course, and I love to be with my cats, I know that might not be the same but I love to be in their company. I happily go places like the cinema, shopping or the gym on my own. My social anxiety doesn't bother me 98% of the time smile.gif

I voted half half smile.gif. I think everyone needs both in right proportions.

I just listen to my inner self when I want to be lonely and when I need a time to be in company.

I'm closer now than I've ever been to saying "being with others", but for now I still prefer the blissful ease of being alone. I will say it depends how many others, as I'm more comfortable in a bigger group than just one or two people where there's more pressure to keep adding to a conversation. I definitely spend most of my time alone, too much of it in fact, so I actually find myself craving company/interaction far more often than I crave space to do my own thing.

I think a balance of both is what I need. I like my own company and it's great to have plenty of time to reflect but I do miss the company of others if I keep myself to myself too much, and vice versa, it's great spending time with family and friends but after a while I want to be alone again laugh.gif For this reason I'm generally not a fan of family gatherings - in someone else's house, it's harder to get some quiet alone time if you want it drama.gif Overall though I think I spend more time with myself, at least physically speaking as most of the friends I speak to regularly are online.

Although the company of other people is enjoyable, I definitely enjoy being on my own from time to time.

with (certain) others

there around like 5 or so people whose company i can't get enough of and would hate the idea of being alone instead of with them. tho the rest of the time i like being alone tbh.
