Exciting news coming out of Albania as they are set to introduce televoting to their national selection for the first time!!!

 

The news came via the Eurovision Albania Facebook page, which mentioned that now a public televote will be included. This means that Albanians will be able to have a role in selecting who represents them in Ukraine next May.

 

Over the course of the two semi final nights, in which 24 artists will be performing, only 14 will be able to qualify to the final night. Out of the 14 qualifiers, 8 will be chosen by a professional jury made of musicians, artists and composers. A further 3 qualifiers will be chosen by the press and the final 3 qualifiers will be selected by a jury that represents the Albanian public themselves.

 

From these qualifiers, the winner on the final night of the festival will be selected from a 60% jury and 40% public vote split.

It's nice to see Albania's move into the 21st century, although hopefully this won't ruin their fantastic ratio of female winners!!!!!

 

I'm already excited for Addy's predictions once the line-up is revealed, I think Lindita Halimi must be an immediate favourite if rumours of her returning turn out to be true.

Flaka Krelani seems to be returning again presuming her song gets selected for the semi-finals!

omg she needs to give up...she always falls short and I don't think it will be any different this time for her!!

"Familiar names at the festival like Linda Halimi (3rd 2015), Flaka Krelani (2016) as well as Dilan Reka and Rezarta Smaja are forming the list of the participants. Furthermore, the X Factor winner Edea Demaliaj and the runner-up Xhesika Polo make the line up even stronger."

 

Linda Halimi, Flaka Krelani, Xhesika Polo and the Classic Boys seem to be the favourites according to ESCForum.net, the latter are the Albanian Il Volo which seems a bit too perfect for Albanian jurors! Hopefully the televote can get one of our female favourites to victory?

 

Addy can you tell us the winner and the top 3 please! :heehee: (You have such a good record at this though!)

Hopefully the inclusion of televitng makes the sound a bit more similar to Kenga Magjike (I mean it seems to have most of the alumni of FiK/Albanian Eurovision anyway so it might as well). Juliana Pasha's hot track from last year would have done a darn sight better than the dirge they ended up with last year

 

Yes Lexc, I always question why they don't send winner of Kenga Magjike to represent Albania...everything in Kenga Magjike is much better than FiK!!!

 

And Ryan I will post my predictions later :)

And Ryan sorry to disappoint you but none of the names are actually screaming winner to me like Aurela, Rona, Elhaida and Eneda, so I am having trouble to give any predection!!!

 

Of course Flaka and Lindita are already popular names but I am not sure if they actually going to make it or just fall short as usual.

Perhaps Flaka or Lindita will take it since no HUGE name is participating this year.

The Classic Boys are going in as the favourite from what I've read, I believe they won Kenga Magjike a couple of years ago? Suggests they have a strong televote and FiK jurors - who are usually on the older side - are going to love an Il Volo style act, especially considering Albania and Italy's similarities. If I was to get to chose, I'd love Lindita to get there although I'd have liked her to have another Zzap & Chris song like "S'te fal" was.

OMG I've just listened to one of the Classic Boys song and terrible terrible terrible...I hope they don't win.

 

And no, they never won a 'Kenga Magjike'...in 2014 and 2015 the winner was Aurela Gace :lol:

I'm surprised there's demand! I did 12 hours at work yesterday so I was asleep as soon as I got home, maybe I will do it once I get home tonight before it starts :magic:

I'm fully backing Dilan Reka for the win, like a male 'Carry Me In Your Dreams'.

No I want Flaka to win this time...she gave me goosebumps :wub:

I think I want Lindita but I think it'll be Dilan unless juries sink him due to vocals!

Voting
The winner will be decided by a combination of a professional jury vote and a televote. It is still unclear what exactly the split between them is but is most likely to be a 50/50 or 60/40 split.

Potential Winners?
The fan forums are our only real indicator of potential favourites to look out for, but following the semi-finals it seems that Dilan Reka goes in as favourite with Lindita Halimi as his nearest challenger. Other potential winners seem to be Flaka Krelani, LYNX and Yll Lymani. A winner other than these five would be a considerable surprise.
