on a serious note as well I do think first aid and cpr training should be a compulsory course to all secondary school children

I'm a qualified first aider. I needed to be when I was part of the warden team at the uni.

Totally agree, no idea why it's not a priority.

I got a 'health and safety award' or something like that, all that was though was answering a few multiple choice questions for a certificate, admittedly we did have 2 or 3 lessons and an away day on it I think. I'm not qualified in first aid but I know some basic things about it so I wouldn't be totally useless in an emergency but that's just down to life experience, nothing I got out of school.

I had first aid classes at the beginning of the year, so I know the basics a bit.

We had some first aid training including CPR in about year 5 at school. I totally agree that it should be compulsory!

I did a week of first aid training as part of my apprenticeship two years ago and came away with a certificate valid for three years, but depending on the situation at hand, I wouldn't really want to use it because my fear / phobia of medical ~stuff~ means I'd probably end up as a second casualty.

I'm a qualified first aider, have to be for work... However, the most I've ever dealt with is the odd cut or graze laugh.gif

I don't know much about it (orrr I just forgot from school blush.gif ) so I'd probably panic a bit if someone had a heart attack or something with just me around... I'd just call 999 and hope they get there on time :|
