Bonfire night will be upon us tomorrow evening. What are everyone's plans this year?

I'm going to a bonfire/fireworks/festival evening then going for some drinks and food. Apparently 12,000 people go every year so I'm worried I'm not gonna get there with enough time and we have an awful view! laugh.gif

Was going to meet with mother and brother but it seems it's too risky to leave my dog alone for the night as he is not used to them at all and he's rather terrified of them, however I/we can technically watch them through a webcam set up about 1/4 mile from the show cool2.gif (but still not the same XP)

I'm working until half eight so no plans, there's usually a display down at the big park area in town, I'm not sure how late it runs but if it's still on after my shift I may take a wander down there and get some photos but that's about it if anything laugh.gif

what is this

On 5 November 1605 a group of people tried to blow up parliament. To commemorate the event we have bonfires and a firework display. One of the plotters was called Guido Fawkes so people make a Guy and burn it on the bonfire. One Sussex town (Lewes) has a particularly big bonfire with the Guy resembling a public figure. This year they have chosen to burn Donald Trump.

I saw fireworks tonight. From my window. This is probably my extent of the involvement in Bonfire Night. I love talking the history but this is the sort of time of year where it's too cold to stand outside at night and gawp at pretty lights.

Not going to anything tomorrow 'cause I'll be at a wedding all day. This will be the first time in a few years where I haven't gone to see fireworks!

I'm sure if it was attempted in 2016 Guy would get a lot of public sympathy

As you can probably guess, I find it very hard to get excited about a public holiday that celebrates the burning of Catholics.

There were fireworks at the pub less than 1/8 of a mile from my house last night and it honestly sounded like someone was blowing up the house next door

What a waste of money watching your fireworks burning away, might as well burn a 10 pound note. I get why the younger generation like it, but when you get older you just realise you are just burning your money away.

Yeah fireworks don't excite me too much any more, unless they are actually different to standard ones, I know a couple of years ago they had some ~funky~ and colourful ones which did these different patterns or smt, I can't remember exactly how but they were interesting and different magic.gif

Same here just freezing your nuts off in the cold, just watching a light show. And some go off with just a whimper

I still remember when I was younger when I went to a fireworks party and one of them fell over and started firing at us and hit someone in the mouth (not a rocket thankfully). Always been a cautious around garden firework parties since~

It's too cold tonight anyway~
