People are saying the John Lewis advert ruins santa for kids, but only my stocking used to come from him. The rest was from my family.

Same Cameron, presents from Santa and our stocking was filled with a little random gift from my mam and dad. Normally like a daft little 5 thing.

Most presents IIRC, I think I first suspected the non-existing of Santa when I saw a reciept for a present in a draw that was appaz from Santa kink.gif

Also I think I recall noticing the handwriting apparently from Santa was my gran's writing but I didn't seem to accept it at that age.

My stocking was always from "Santa", and then I had presents downstairs from my parents!

Same here pretty much. Gifts from 'Santa' went by the fireplace whilst family gifts went under the tree

I used to believe that all the presents came from Santa! My parents encouraged that, so I held on to that belief for quite a long time - longer than most kids, perhaps. Maybe until around the age of 9? I'm sure for a couple of years approaching that age I didn't 100% believe it, but I liked to believe in the fantasy of it for as long as it was possible - it added to the magic/fun. wub.gif I never had an "omg Santa isn't real" moment, it was just me gradually maturing to realise it wasn't the case. heehee.gif

I was sceptical about Santa from about the age of 7, but had it confirmed when I was 10. I then decided to tell nearly everyone I knew that he didn't exist laugh.gif

I had a sack rather than a stocking but that was filled with presents from 'Santa' and then there would be a load of presents from relatives on the floor outside of the sack.

Literally everything I had was from Santa, the only ones I knew weren't were the ones my grandparents and aunt bought as they were bringing them with them to come to visit! I did wonder why my parents had so little involvement with this and were just passers on of information from the list I gave them thinking.gif

Only the stocking from Santa, but we used to have large stockings!!

Also (and it seems we're the only family that does this) we wouldn't and still don't unwrap presents from the family until after we've had Christmas dinner. We could look inside the stockings as soon as we woke up though.

'Santa' gave me just my stocking! I would get a stocking full of small gifts/sweets and then presents from my parents/other family members downstairs afterwards. This was the most magical routine ever as a child.

That sounds like a pretty good idea tbh! Once I woke up at 3am on Christmas morning and refused to go back to bed because I wanted to see if Santa had been, at the time I didn't realise that was such a bad thing but yeah 3am is pretty early, especially seeing as my parents had probably been up all night wrapping the presents laugh.gif

Most of the presents were from Santa, one or two gifts from the parents when I was younger I seem to recall.

I honestly don't remember, I think the stocking presents were from Santa and then under the tree were some from Santa and some from my parents. They must have done well with different wrapping paper and handwriting etc. because I never had any suspicions that they weren't from Santa!

I still get a full stocking too! laugh.gif Nowadays my mom or dad fills them while my brother and I are still awake because we're always wrapping our gifts late at night on Christmas Eve, we usually just stay upstairs away from the tree so I never notice when it happens laugh.gif

All presents from Mum and Dad came from Santa. We never used to ask for another present from them, but I worked out Santa didn't exist around the same time I'd have been conscious of "missing out" on one from them. I used to get a stocking up until about the age of 18 as my youngest brother is 9 years younger than me and it was in our interest to keep him believing.

...I'm a little surprised by this 'all the gifts were from Santa' people - where did you put the gifts for your parents and family if not under the tree??

Are there some families where the kids don't buy presents for mum and dad or their family or siblings, and it's just parents to kids??

It was always stocking = Santa, under the tree = family in my house.
