I'm sure we all have Christmas music forced on us every single year in shops, on TV, pretty much EVERYWHERE, but when do you start listening to it out of choice, if you listen at all? Do the festivities begin right after Halloween, or do you save it only for Christmas itself? Also, on a broader topic, what are some of your favourite Christmas songs? Whether it be more traditional carols, the usual classics like Mariah and The Pogues that we get every year, or maybe some recent songs from the likes of Leona, Kelly C and Ariana.

Generally for me I start listening on the 1st December, but I don't feel I have to stick to that so if I fancy a play beforehand (so late November), there's no issue in that.

Also I generally prefer to listen to more modern Christmas songs, and a lot of them don't tend to be particularly well known either, although my absolute favourite is and will probably always be Mariah's All I Want For Christmas Is You, so much joy in that song and it never fails to get me in the Christmas spirit! wub.gif

I generally wait until December 1st to deliberately start playing Christmas songs! To me, all of December is all about Christmas. I know the festive season seems to start as soon as Halloween is over these days, but it just feels too early to be festive at the moment. :')

YES SAM!

I usually get my playlist ready after Halloween and usually wait until after Bonfire night to listen as it is the next holiday in the UK after that. I don't go full on Christmas music till December though but usually, do my tradition of watching the grinch/ the polar express / elf over the last 3 weekends of November to get into the spirit.

I don't actually see anything wrong with listening to Christmas music early. It is a time that brings people great happiness and if it is something that does that, then why not?

Generally I try to wait until midway through December (but I can't really avoid them after the 1st)

I've gone for the last option. I'm a bit 'over' Christmas now that I'm older and working.

A lot of Christmas classics annoy me, the ones I do like I'll hear enough whilst out that I don't need to bother out of choice!

1st December preferably, haven't heard a song unintentionally (ie radio) yet idt but it's so annoying that shops/people go on about it months before it occurs sleep.gif (mince pies aside wub.gif )

The Christmas Unicorn (OMG I'M GETTING EXCITED THINKING ABOUT IT) makes its return on the 1st of December every year. That, and the rest of Sufjan's collection, is about as far as I stretch thesedays.

I go out of my way to start listening to Christmas music on 1st December! I absolutely love getting into Christmas in December and having a whole month of festivities. But starting in November is a bit too excessive for me!

As for the Christmas songs themselves, 'Happy Xmas (War Is Over)' by John Lennon & Yoko Ono has always been my absolute favourite heart.gif Then 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday' and 'Fairytale of New York' are my next two favourites.

December 1st. I don't want to hear Christmas music in any month of the year other than December. It annoys me so much that Christmas advertising campaigns start so early especially when they have Christmas songs in the adverts. mad.gif

Last year I had the following Christmas songs in my personal Top 50, so these are what I'm looking forward to revisiting

07. Hurts - All I Want For Christmas Is New Year's Day
09. Leona Lewis - One More Sleep
10. The Pogues - Fairytale Of New York
18. Niki Luparelli - Why Don't You Go F Yourself (This Christmas)
22. Wham! - Last Christmas
23. Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You
25. Cascada - Last Christmas
28. Shakin' Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone
42. Wizzard - I wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday

Usually whenever I feel like it, this year the first time I actively chose to put one on was early October. I've had my playlist on the go now for a couple of weeks.
