The top three that Dan has there is spot on. Simply unavoidable this year (well maybe moreso in late 2015 in Bieber's case) if you don't live under a rock!

you have to consider album sales and singles charts to get an inclusive list:

Adele
Coldplay
Justin Bieber
Drake
The Weeknd
Chainsmokers
Sia
Rihanna
Bruno Mars
Beyonce

In the UK and much of the world Elvis Presley and Michael Buble are huge, just not with Spotify listeners, millions sold. In back catalogue terms obviously David Bowie and Prince, though Bowie has been one of the big new album sellers of the year too in the UK.

Might not have been around much but Taylor Swift is still huge, just not active in 2016.

Not big in the UK, but world-wide Enrique Iglesias still does good biz.

I would say: Justin Bieber, Chainsmokers, The Weeknd, Shawn Mendes, Adele, Ariana Grande, Rihanna, Beyonce, Drake and Twenty One Pilots all stand out as the biggest acts worldwide at the moment.

These things, of course, differ from country to country as well. Little Mix, for example, are without a shadow of a doubt an absolutely massive chart force in the UK these days. Bigger than the Sugababes or Girls Aloud ever were by the by (not quite Spice Girls though) but don't have that presence elsewhere. I know they do reasonably well in Australia.

Then in the US, you have acts like Selena Gomez, Meghan Trainor and Charlie Puth who post top tens on the regular but don't do as well outside of those shores.

It'll be interesting to see how the likes of Katy Perry and Taylor Swift do when they return from their hiatuses (Bruno seems to have survived his). Taylor's refusal to stream her music is obviously going to continue to affect her pull on the charts (in the UK at least, she seemed to hold up in the US) and I wouldn't be surprised if her next lead single missed the top ten on first week and then struggled to climb up after. I don't think she'll ever get a number one here now unless she allows Spotify.

Katy's an odd one. I'd be tempted to air on the pessimistic side for her since 'Rise' did so badly but at the same time it wasn't really meant to be a big song and wasn't leading a new era for her. She could still do pretty well but she has to release sooner rather than later.

Ke$ha is screwed sadly and I don't think Nicki Minaj will do as well with her next release.

I have to say of all the Nickolodeon/Disney starlets that have broken out this decade, I'm pleased it's Ariana who's done the best. Demi's got a nice voice but her music is such a non-event most of the time and very forgettable. She's never going to be an A-list star. Selena just plain can't sing and I guess Miley's not interested in commercial success anymore anyway.

Mumford and sons?!!

Yes, they are HUUUGE with the housewife market.

Also LOL!! Spice Girls werr never that big and a mino chart force in terms of the huge names. However, they FAR eclipse Little Mix who are not even as big as Sugababes or Girls Aloud were in their heydey or even All Saints. I know they are busy releasing cheesy 90s pop to try and copy the Spice Girls but they are nowhere near. They need to overtake The Saturdays and All Saints and GA and Sugababes first. And this is with a HUGE platform nd helping Cowell and Cowell media friends hand.

I didn't say the Spice Girls were never that big. I said Little Mix are bigger than Girls Aloud and Sugababes ever were, but they're not at the same level The Spice Girls were.
