Let's go!

01: Avril Lavigne - 'I'm With You'

I decided to start this round with a song from the first album I ever bought! Avril Lavigne was a very early musical obsession for me, and it was her 2002 debut 'Let Go' that started this all off. 'I'm With You' is one of the clear highlights from the album for me. The gorgeous string intro is pretty distinctive so I thought it would work well as an inclusion here. The middle 8 is possibly one of Avril's finest moments with the pure emotion of her crying out. The song was her third single release and peaked at #7 in the UK. It was later sampled in Rihanna's 2011 hit 'Cheers (Drink To That)'.

All but 10 of you managed to get this one so a good start. A couple of you wrongly guessed at Goo Goo Dolls' 'Iris' which is an understandable guess, with the slightly similar intros. A couple of other attempts at Ellie Goulding and... Glee. I guess the latter is a good shout in a me quiz tbh. POOR POOR Iz~, I bet he'll be kicking himself as he's a self proclaimed fan of the rock chick. Unlike resident hater Liam who referred to her as satan in his PM kink.gif Bluth/Froot was... technically right I guess! tongue.gif

02: Paramore - 'crushcrushcrush'

Next up we have Paramore's 'crushcrushcrush'! I wanted to include a Paramore song here for some rock representation and because their singles discography is almost flawless. This was a favourite of mine back in the day and I rediscovered it this year and fell in love all over again. Gotta love the signature Paramore instrumentation, the contrast between the soft verses and huge chorus and of course the epic "crush... crush...crush..." build-up - part of what featured in the clip! This criminally only charted at #61 here in the UK back in 2007.

Less than half of you got the full point this time! 4 get half a point for recognising Paramore's rocky sound and getting the artist. Well... Klumzee did put Lindsey Cairns - 'punk rock song (probably Paramore)' but I decided to be nice and count that as a half point laugh.gif A couple of you went for both Pat Benatar and Green Day, two fellow guitar-heavy options! Another one from Brett-Butler in the form of Bring Me The Horizon, also.

(Iz~ making up for the last song with this one!)

I'm With You wub.gif One of my very favourite Avril singles, I'd rank it 2nd or 3rd (with Keep Holding On and What The Hell completing the trio).

crushcrushcrush came before I really started getting into Paramore and I prefer a lot of their other singles but still a tune.

03: Aaliyah - 'More Than A Woman'

Queen Aaliyah *.* This is by far my favourite song that I've heard from her discography. The production is everything, her voice sounds great and I'm so here for the choreography in the music video. A really slick and smooth R&B offering from the late singer. This song was a posthumous #1 in the UK back in 2002.

A generally well answered one this time round - the highest amount of correct responses so far! The incorrect guesses were mainly other big names in R&B like Timbaland and Destiny's Child. PeteFromLeeds also answering a fellow song with 'Woman' in the title. I did have a bit of a giggle at Cameron's answer laugh.gif Hands up if you've ever belly danced to 'More Than a Woman'.

Not sure I've ever heard that Avril song so not kicking myself just yet! (I actually initially thought it was 'Iris' as well). And I recognised #2 as Paramore straight away but took me a bit of thinking to get the actual song (my first thought was 'That's What You Get'). Great choice of Paramore song anyway *.*

Mainly recognise 'More Than A Woman' from Melé's 'Aaliyah'. Flynnonda impakt

Exactly, I'm so so glad I got Paramore (eventually, took me way too long) after missing that. What I figured put me off is that with the clip given I couldn't get images of the likes of KT Tunstall and Katie Melua out of my head. Wonderful song and I used to play it loads so of course I recognised that I knew it but not what you think of for an Avril instrumental.
