Could someone explain to me what the difference is between Record and Song of the Year? Is one sales based and the other critics based?

are there just a few too many r&b/urban categories or is it just me? an album like 25 gets 5 noms just because that's the the absolute minimum she can get yet rihanna and beyoncι yet more just cos of having more possible categories to be nominated within

Record of the Year is for the recording as a whole and is awarded to the artist and producer; Song of the Year is awarded to the songwriter so it's meant to be about the song itself (lyrics, melody, etc.).

Beyonce's dad is in the Grammy board or something. But yeah, overall there's quite a few R&B awards. Lol at Beyonce being up for rock...

I'm really gutted Ariana isn't up for album of the year. That's the main loss for me.

I am ever so grateful that the academy have recognised this art

In all seriousness Anderson .Paak getting a BNA nomination is a nice surprise amongst a lot of unpleasant surprises.

Ew NO at Purpose and Views been nominated for AOTY over the likes of Anti, Blackstar, A Moon Shaped Poll, and Dangerous Woman.

I feel sad that Alessia Cara not been nominated for the Best New Artist.
