What's everyone's power tracks? Those songs you listen to then feel ready AF to take on the world and boss it?

As an athlete I used to have a pre-race playlist of tracks to get me in the zone and since 2007 the last track i'd listen to before a race, or now i'm an ex-athlete anything where I want a boost like interviews, is the incredible Sunset Strippers remix of Groove Armada/Mutya Buena - Song 4 Mutya: https://play.spotify.com/album/1w8QvzBDzH7nm0MSS2L7Hh

It's over 7mins so it gives me plenty of time to prepare mentally. The reasons I love that track so much is because it's got a pretty relentless beat, a decent pace to it and my favourite vocalist. It's so ingrained as a power track that I've had it playing as i'm typing this and I'm ready to kick ass!

I have two types of power tracks that I keep on hand at all times. There's the punchy and dance-y and upbeat ones that fit my racing days, as above. Then there's the more mellow confidence builders. A good example of that for me is Stronger by the Sugababes. It's a track thats been picking me back up and building my strength since 2002.

I didn't realise than Sunset Strippers made any other contributions to music beyond "Falling Stars", so that's good to know.

As for me, nothing gets me pumped up more than a bit of Japanese pop-punk from nano.RIPE -

I've got so many but a lot of them I can't remember off the top of my head, it's one of those things where you only really know in the moment laugh.gif

Paramore - Now (i remember looping this en route to my higher maths exam to motivate me (which I did fail but still))
The Veronicas - Lolita, this is a newer one but it gets me hella hyped
Tonight Alive - The Fire
PVRIS - St Patrick (since seeing it live really)

Recently stuff like Ciara, Destiny's Child and Fergie have been my power tracks, but dance stuff like Moony's 'Dove' or classic 90s club anthems can get me equally pupped up.

The first few posts talking about mid 00s funky house heart.gif It was a time for motivational track,s, during the mid 00s when stuff like Falling Stars and The Weekend were out I used to think it was solely designed for exercise regimes. Especially the Shapeshifters Lola's Theme, a. they were called the Shapeshifters so getting into shape came to mind and b. The lyrics 'I'm a different person' smile.gif

So yes any sort of funky house for motivation, the standout one would be Freemasons' Watchin (the most powerful funky house track in terns of music I think) also vocal trance like The Opera Song (Brave New World) too. Such a power track that is. As is Scooter's Logical Song, Nessaja.

The early and mid 00s were full of power tracks with all those euphoric trance and funky house tunes and excellent rock tracks such as In The End by Linkin Park/Smooth Criminal by Alien Ant Farm.

Of course some 90s dance too like 2 Unlimited's No Limit is a real power track.

More recently Galantis' You and I (Runaway). The whole build up and main part is so euphoric.

For rock, Deaf Havana's I'm A Bore Mostly helped motivate me when it was released (a bit ironic because of the name but the music of the track is so epic), Lighthouse by Mallory Knox is a fantastic uplifting tune. You Me At Six's The Swarm too.

For heavier rock, power metal obviously is very power track sounding, especially Kamelot smile.gif

Essay like post sorry laugh.gif

Indeed the Sunset Strippers remix of Song 4 Mutya is much better than the original (which is rather dull imo)

The Sunship vocal mix of Gabriella Cilmi - Sweet About Me is a great tune too (heard it in a bar on holiday in Portugal earlier this year) (I thought Sunship did garage remixes but this is funky house)

During final year of uni I used to blast various mixes of this hardcore ANTHEM out as I got ready every morning. Prepared me for the commute into London and the exhausting day ahead:

Haven't heard that remix of SAM, at least that I can remember, will have to look it up.
