Can anyone beat this then? Daughter passed her driving test last Wed. so took the car out on her own last Thu, just around the block, after we put her on the insurance and today a fine of 130 or 65 if paid within 14 days arrived, as she went through a No Entry sign with a camera there. She says "well I never saw any sign" Told her to go to Specsavers tomorrow. tongue.gif

Sorry but I'm PMSL here. biggrin.gif

I know it's not nice of me to laugh but has anyone here ever got a fine the very first time they've driven alone?

EDIT. She says it's our fault for only letting her go round the block first and not on main roads. rolleyes.gif

Can I save you a bit of time here? The answer from everybody on the board is no.

My brother crashed his car into the back of a concrete mixer less than 30 minutes after passing his test. The car was written off.

I heard about a woman who wrote the instructor's car off driving home just after passing her test for the 10th time. ohmy.gif

where I'm from the driving instructor isn't allowed to let you drive the car back home once you've taken the test, as you're either too stressed from failing or too ecstatic from passing! probably a good idea considering these stories ohmy.gif

We've made her pay it herself as she has money. That way she may learn to be more careful and observe signs. rolleyes.gif If we just paid it for her then she wouldn't learn a lesson and would think we'll just bail her out every time in her life.

This is the reason I don't drive. I wouldn't trust myself behind a wheel.

It's all part of driving. Those first few weeks when you get behind the wheel of a car by yourself, you are either loving it, on tenterhooks the whole time, or you drive like a madman/woman.

As for the fine, surely if it's local to you she should be well aware?? Tbf a lot of signs like that are not very clear and not always picked up by Sat Nav/Google. I could sympthise if it was in a different city that was unfamiliar, but if it's in your local area then that's just slightly careless.

I passed my test many years ago aged 17 and haven't driven since the day of my test. Never really wanted to learn but my parents paid for lessons and pressurised me. Wouldn't drive now in London as I'd need a refresher course as it's so busy and so many idiot drivers.
