1. Name a Pet Shop Boys album

Super (13): Slade, Jahq, James Frost, UltraBasic Witch, Dobbo, twentyonemdh, Jingle Burbes, RobinJuanPersie, Santa's Haz, Dancember, Christmattias, troublepink, Noahspicicle, Riser
Actually (5): awardinicy, PeteFromLeeds, richie, BillyH, Josh., Christmas
Very (5): Jacob A. Marley, Chez Wombat, DalekTurrent32, Serg Mix, Brett-Butler, Michael Bubré
Please (3): Cameron, n4yr, CHOCOLATE BANTA, Weiss Schnee
Yes (0): Andrew.

POSSIBLY WRONG ANSWER: Ultimate (0): Sarah

My first question was for you to name an album by Pet Shop Boys, legends of electronic music, and compared to later questions, the answers were varied.

14 of you went with their most recent offering, Super, which reached #3 in April this year and then crashed out of the chart never to be seen again sad.gif My personal two highlights from the album were "The Pop Kids" and "Say It To Me", both of whom are in my top 10 of the year.

6 of you went for their second album, Actually, released in 1987 when they were completely all over the place with 4 top 2 hits in 10 months. The album includes my personal favourite song from them, "It's A Sin", as well as "What Have I Done To Deserve This?", "Heart", "Shopping" and "King's Cross".

6 of you went for their only number one album, Very, released in 1993. It includes one of their most famous songs, "Go West", as well as the excellent "Can You Forgive Her?".

4 of you went for their debut album, Please, which includes "West End Girls", "Opportunities (Let's Make Lots Of Money)" and "Suburbia". Andrew went for their tenth album, "Yes", released in 2009.

Sarah answered with "Ultimate", their most recent greatest hits album. I would consider this a wrong answer but to be fair, I didn't specify "studio album". It makes no difference anyway since no one else answered it.

Yessss, excellent start! cheer.gif

I'm not so hot on the history of the album chart compared to singles and wasn't aware of them having a standout classic album. So the logic of the most recent one it was!

Changed it from Very which I had first initially. Figured everyone would just Google PSB albums and bang, first up was Super.

I underestimated the number of people who would go for the most recent album sad.gif

Anyway, if there are 32 players, all I need is two people to have thought they were playing Pointless for me to get some points biggrin.gif

Well, I thought their biggest selling would've been logical, but it somehow didn't register with me they had an album this year.

Much love to them though, Go West and West End Girls are classics <3

I originally had Please as my answer until my computer froze, and when it rebooted I'd blanked and could only remember Super so guessed that instead. Didn't think that would work in my favor laugh.gif

2. Name an Agatha Christie novel

And Then There Were None (15): And Then There Were None: Cameron, Slade, Jacob A. Marley, UltraBasicWitch, PeteFromLeeds, Chez Wombat, Jingle Burbes, richie, RobinJuanPersie, Michael Bubré, Santa's Haz, Weiss Schnee, Dancember, Christmattias, Christmas, Noahspicicle
Murder On The Orient Express (9): Jahq, n4yr, awardinicy, Dobbo, Serg Mix, CHOCOLATE BANTA, Brett-Butler, BillyH, Josh., Sarah
In A Glass Darkly (0): James Frost
Murder With Mirrors (0): twentyonemdh
Appointment With Death (0): Andrew.
Death On The Nile (0): troublepink
The Mysterious Affair at Styles (0): Riser

WRONG ANSWER: Poirot: DalekTurrent32

Agatha Christie is possibly my favourite writer ever. There's something about the way she wrote her novels that keeps you gripped to the pages right until the very end. She is nicknamed "The Queen Of Crime" and for very good reason. I highly recommend many of her works.

Anyway, my personal favourite Agatha Christie novel, And Then There Were None, wins this question with 16 people answering it. The book tells the story of ten people stranded on an island with a homicidal maniac in their midst. If you haven't already, read this book. I mean it. You will not regret it.

Another popular answer was Murder on the Orient Express, a Hercule Poirot story with a shock twist ending. Also one to read

Other novels answered were In A Glass Darkly, Murder With Mirrors, Appointment With Death, Death On The Nile, and The Mysterious Affair at Styles, Christie's first published novel. There is no novel called simply "Poirot" so that is a wrong answer.

I feel like I should point out that hosts of these quizzes are allowed to enter them themselves... the last couple have not done so for some reason kink.gif

I thought 'Very' was pretty much the classic PSB album, maybe I overestimated how well-known it is tongue.gif Still a few points for it I guess. x

I haven't read that book, but I saw the BBC adaptation of And Then There Were None last year and loved it, amazing concept (I'm a sucker for these 'small number of survivors stranded and shit goes down' kinda narratives) executed in the most suspenseful way with a perfect pay off <3 should definitely check out that book.

Indeed, I haven't actually read Agatha Christie novels oops, not sure why, maybe cos I'm not drawn to crime novels as much, but that's no excuse.
