I have never been skiing before ohmy.gif Only tobogganing and ice skating out of snow/ice related activities!

It's not really something I have a burning desire to do any time soon but could be fun I guess.

I went skiing back in 2010 I think, as part of the French exchange. It's a nice experience to have, but I was pretty terrible at it. Think I was last in my group and it was such a struggle to stay upright towards the end, I had to take the skis off and walk the final part of the way. laugh.gif

not been skiing but tried snowboarding once! i loved it, it was so much fun happy.gif i feel like it was probably easier than skiing since your feet are stuck in one position compared to the possibility of them going in opposite ones laugh.gif

I love skiing! Went to France to ski for a week earlier this year and hoping to go again next year.

I also go to The Snow Centre at Hemel Hempstead a few times a year (the same snow centre where the contestants from The Jump practise/train)

It was great, I took to it well with the cuña speed moderation and braking - though wiped oot on the freshly plowed slope! laugh.gif Looked like a Christmas village and the speed you can build on them! ohmy.gif You can see why people can have pretty nasty injuries. Skiing for me looks harder than snowboarding tbh as when you fall you have to take off one of them at least to stand up and THEN start t ORDEAL of putting one back on. I was so traumatised by this that I forced myself ro get decent fast to not fall over! laugh.gif

Skiing is definitely not posh anyway, I'm sure it can be but many middle class families can afford skiing holidays.

Snowboarding is much harder than skiing imo!! I've tried both but skiing felt a lot better so decided to get into practising that.

Also helps that I barely fall over skiing now laugh.gif

We rented skiis, boots and helmets (I did have my own helmet though)

I don't recall exactly how much it cost, as it was a family trip. Probably a few thousand in total including hire, ski passes, accommodation...

We went skiing on a school trip once I think. I was terrible. We also did ice skating though, we had ice just in front of the school building and I became good at that and really enjoyed it actually, but when I tried again years later at a birthday party, it was just like fall - fall - fall - fall - fall - fall - fall - fall lol. All I wanted to do was go and eat more cake.
