Hiya. I've discussed this idea with Seven. All the other genre forums have a recommendations thread for songs of the genre(s) of that forum, and the Lounge has a "i am listening to this song and i think this about it" thread and I thought it would be nice if there was something like that here too. Might be a good place to share new indie/rock/alternative songs that you don't feel a need to create a whole new thread for, as well as to bring attention to old faves!

To start off, I recently discovered this and it's too damn catchy with some nice production music.gif Don't let the name of the artist fool you into thinking it belongs in the pop forum angel.gif It does have some pop elements to it though ~

yass Seven cool.gif

Was reading some of the Unknown Pleasures I hosted where I sent an artist called JOY. In love with her sound right now, hope to hear more great stuff from her in future. Kinda Banks/Kiiara vibes.

Check out this beauty <3

I'm currently revisiting the (limited) back catalogue of Air France.

Just a couple of EP's, mind.

Been loving The Draw by Bastille, definitely one of my favourites ever by them and fast growing into my favourite from their Bad Blood/circa-2013 era! So blissfully extravagant and with breathtaking instrumentation, Dan's vocals are as always spot on too wub.gif

^ this song's been a big favourite of mine the last few weeks, features a really nice steel drum sample from Ninetoes' Finder. He just released his new album as well, plan on giving that a spin!

Just relistened to both of alt-J's albums, so many great songs across the both of them. Most of my highlights are the obvious ones (i.e. singles) but right up there with them for me is 'Taro' from their debut:

Can't believe they released 6 singles from this album including the rather average 'Something Good' but didn't touch this one! The instrumentation wub.gif

one morning this sadness will fossilize
and i will forget how to cry
i'll keep going to work and you won't see a change
save perhaps a slight gray in my eye

i will go jogging routinely
calmly and rhythmically run
and when i find that a knife's sticking out of my side
i'll pull it out without questioning why

Taro is wonderful! It's actually a little bit like a Sting song but an improved one.

Oh, I like this thread :3

retro-energetic-summery vibes

thoughtful-smooth-mellowness

takes me to the sea and the coast, cliff walks with the wind

takes me back to when a song like this would've been a chart hit, back when e.g. noah and the whale were in vogue. memories...

For about the fifth time in a row now. I am not sure what the lyrics are about, but I can tell they're interesting.
